Re: Thread For Your Useless Discoveries
Gustavo's parasite outbreak idea gave me some inspiration to create this "pseudo breeder". It creates parasites until it reaches the "cap" of allowed parasites on the stream. Stretch the rake even more to further increase the number of parasites.

Re: Gustavo Ramos Rehermann's patterns
The rake parasit is in development state, I got a salvo that once hits both gliderstreams of mirrored rakes, and a "last hope" (a single escaping glider) from the latter hit simply vanish in the other stream. Plan B: using unstable patterns and ultra-low period rakes. This doesn't make much sense.....

Re: Thread For Your Accidental Discoveries
This is called the "high period glider crystal". A crystal is created when spaceships of any type collide objects so that the leftover junk doesn't collide. The shape of the crystal depends on the rate of ships, but past a certain period all periods have the same crystal. The crystal you've shown is...

Re: Thread for your unsure discoveries
The result is not that bad: 2 LWSSs can create a glider and a MWSS can destroy them. Also, there is a helpful reaction in which a LWSS can "push forward" the blinkers, allowing some degrees of freedom. x = 72, y = 70, rule = B3/S23 9$7bo$7bo53bo$7bo20b3o30bo$61bo$9b3o14bo$26bo30b3o$7bo18bo$6b3o$5b2o...

Re: Thread for your unsure discoveries
Darts can trigger the "pushing" reaction of a beehive. It is slow-salvo friendly, as every reactions seen are short and don't collide the next. Unfortunately, the long cycle ends up producing half-TLS (but far from the main reaction. The next cycle's TLs collide them, as it is a very slow impush: it...

So you've made a 163-cell predecessor to the sawtooth, but still only with a minimum repeating population of 201. Although something goes wrong with your pattern after two sawtooth iterations, it explodes.. Edit: Putting them side by side I see that your pattern deleted the gliders, making the phas...

Sorry?[/quote] Incomplete sentence, sorry. I'm wondering if a balanced 3D B?/S? rule exists , bearing the same complexity as the GoL. It willl be hard to find it. Why? I would have a suggestion for agpsearch/catagolue:
If catagolue is unreachable, can you make agpsearch store the data on the computer, then transmit it (and erase it) when internet comes back? I've lost something like 20 million soups because of this.

Re: Is there such a thing as a stationary wickstretcher?
For that option, I think the best (only?) example in Conway's Life is Jason Summers' traffic-jam extruder (in Golly's Signal-Circuitry collection). Use goto.py to run it forward to a relatively interesting moment, say T=9576000. Then maybe watch it run in LifeHistory to see what's going on. One of ...

I think he meant a wick that grows, but there is no spaceship on a side to make it grow, it grows on it's own. I'm not sure it's possible.

Re: Is there such a thing as a stationary wickstretcher?
Yes, that's what I meant. In some sense, such a wick would be a unidirectional replicator (it would replicate itself but only on one end). EDIT: Alternatively, there might be a pattern, that makes a "wave" propagating through a wick and elongating it on the other end. It HAS to be "pulses". If it i...
