Re: Linea (B2-a3-i/S23-a)
What symmetries does this rule have? Is it isotropic (behaves the same way if rotated), uniform (behaves the same way if translated through space), consistent (behaves the same way if translated through time) and achiral (behaves the same way if flipped)? If so, the same symmetries should be the sam...

Re: Pseudorandom Glider Gun
...CSPRNG (which at least needs to be mathematically proved to earn that title, cf. Blum-Blum-Shub)...With Blum-Blum-Shub, you can only calculate the future keystream output [assuming factorisation is hard]. Actually, cyphers based on diffusion and confusion are, in some respects, more secure than ...

Re: Pseudorandom Glider Gun
Salsa20 is not cryptographically secure. It's random enough for use as a stream cipher, but 'cryptographically secure' requires that if you know its current state, it's still infeasible to 'run it backwards' to determine historical output. Salsa20 is trivially invertible owing to only comprising ad...

Re: Pseudorandom Glider Gun
You will need something better, LFSRs are nowhere near cryptographically secure.I've constructed a linear shift register in GoL:
If you manage simulate Salsa20/20, that would be very impressive, but impractical, even though it is the simplest CSPRNG I can think of.

I believe there is nothing wrong with reviving old threads, as long as the new post fits into the old thread.
In this particular case, the new post is not relevant to the original thread, so there was no reason to post in it.

The Game of Life, additionally referred to just as Life, is a cell robot concocted by the British mathematician John Horton Conway in 1970. Use GoL based PoW, while collecting soup data!
Enforce that a new user must contribute some amount of work to apg-search, proven by the PoW system in apg-search, to start posting.

Re: Massive spam attacks on the wiki (and forums?)
Why not enforce Scrypt proof of work on new users? This would make it computationally difficult for spammers to make new accounts, and the few they create can be banned quickly. Also, post rate limits can be imposed on new users, to ensure they do not spam too much. Someone who actually wants to joi...
