Re: Things You've Been Doing Other Than CGoL
Also, Undertale has two examples of 5/4, plus a surprisingly accurate pattern for when 4/4, 3/4 / 6/8 and 5/4 are used. Can you guess it?

Even-numbered ECA are already natively supported by Golly, use Wxxx for them while in the "Set Rule" dialog. They work in QuickLife and HashLife.

This is known as a crystal. There are even ways to end crystal formation that end up destroying it after the growth period, probably in jslife or another collection.

Re: Thread For Your Unrecognised CA
As is the 2c/5. I posted this rule only because it is searchable, unlike B35/S236, and is more interesting than B3-j5/S2-i36, a similar stabilization, which does not have the interesting oscillators this one has.

Re: Thread For Your Unrecognised CA
B3-j5/S236 is a stabilized version of B35/S236 which has a bunch of interesting patterns. The most common spaceship is the 2c/5 from B35/S236: x = 3, y = 3, rule = B3-j5/S236 bo$3o$3o! However, there is also this 4c/10 which looks like two copies interacting in some phases: x = 3, y = 8, rule = B3-...

Adding survival conditions is also an option. For example, B37/S234j is stable. However, the only interesting pattern so far that doesn't appear in Life is this p16 oscillator:
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 8, rule = B37/S234j
