This rotor is known, but your stabilisation is better than the one in the collection.

Re: CopperSearch

why would you exclude p10 amd p15 as "uninteresting? Wouldn't you rather exclude oscillators instead? All small ship with period > 4 are interesting! The C program (as well as my version 0.4) distinguishes oscillators and spaceships. The criteria I presented in my previous post should only be used ...

Re: The Hunt for a Tiny Diagonal Spaceship

Firstly, thank you all.

Secondly, given the abundance of octagon 2 + some p2 combinations, you are not required to report them any more.

Re: CopperSearch

Thank you for your replies. I have just run a small side-by-side comparison of static and dynamic arrays. Static arrays are almost exactly 1.5 times faster, so the next version of CopperSearch will use those. Delphi sorted lists are an easy hack, but they are classes and therefore they are almost de...

Re: CopperSearch

Thanks for doing this. Out of curiosity, what is the rationale for throwing away period 8 and period 15? Also, how much would it speed up the search to skip step 1, and do you think it might be worth it? The search with diagonal symmetry finds a figure eight approximately once every two seconds. An...
