Re: Thread for your unsure discoveries
It pretty definitely counts as new if you can start with a Herschel somehow, and put a signal through your I-to-B and back to a Herschel again. Are you trying to say that the C→I conduit looks like feeding a century into it might be impossible? In case so, here is a demonstration that that conduit ...

Re: The Hunting of the Periodic Herschel Conduits

Re: The Hunting of the Periodic Herschel Conduits
Also, I'm sorry for accidentally stealing your discovery (or whoever's discovery that was). Oh, I wouldn't worry too much about it. These sorts of simple reactions (in this case R + dot spark + [one of several simple catalyst placements]) are often re-discoveries of older (sometimes very old) findi...

Re: The Hunting of the Periodic Herschel Conduits
wwei23 found a periodic R→L based off a stable near-convertor that I found. I remember seeing (either by finding it myself or seeing others mention it) this general spark-assisted LWSS production method a few years back, though I'm not sure if a truly usable periodic conduit based on it was ever ma...

Re: The Hunting of the New Herschel Conduits
(I had been trying to complete a partial ∏-to-blockade predecessor conduit until I read your post.) To be fair, a sufficiently edgy LOM (lumps of muck, produces blockade) output, or a new suitable conduit with a LOM input, could potentially qualify it as a valid new branch point for the Elementary ...

Re: B38/S23
Turns out one of the ways that a glider can hit a xWSS diverges significantly from regular Life when B8 is added, and this difference allows for bizarre helix segments with a burning front faster than c/2 forwards. In this example (which may not be the most optimal cleanup) the burning front travels...

Re: B38/S23
I found some more crawler reactions that might be usable for building spaceships. There's probably still more out there, and I'm probably going to continue to prioritize 28c/83 over them in regards to research, but I figured it's worth a shot looking for some more for future reference. I haven't bot...

Re: B38/S23
I've now found a spacer for the 28c/83 reaction, giving the ability to choose not to fire a glider. You can also burn the output blocks instead, which I haven't looked into as much since they don't immediately produce more easy to use fuel inside of the debris line. x = 2637, y = 100, rule = B38/S23...

Pedestrian Life (B38/S23)
There's a wick in standard Life which burns at 28c/83 orthogonally, but since the reaction involves an R pentomino stage, its exhaust aggressively blows up out of control. However, in Pedestrian Life, Rs are much better behaved, and so the reaction settles down nicely. The reaction is quite versatil...

R pentominoes seem to like spawning more R pentominoes in this rule. Re: The Hunting of the Elementary Conduits
So, I might've posted a bit prematurely, because I've found a working H->LOM->G conduit. If analyzed as a pure H->G it's NW4T282, which appears to be a new lane again. But for me the more exciting bit is the fact that it's a H->LOM (the constituents of which are shown here in white) followed by a LO...

I've found a couple new H-to-G conduits with the new glider to pre-TL catalyst Kazyan found earlier this month. I feel like there's more potential out there with this, but I personally haven't found anything else after a few days so I'm just going to post what my own investigations have found. I'm g...

This is sort of a response to my other post over in Oscillator Discussion, so if you're the type who likes riddles and wants to try and figure out the oscillator's "special property" for yourself, you might want to take a look there first. Anyway, for everyone who just wants to know what's up, here'...

Re: The Hunting of the New Herschel Conduits
Here's an interesting start to a possible E heptomino conduit which *is* compatible with the known H-to-E conduit. The boat doesn't have to be a boat, but something needs to be there in order to make the transparent block re-coalesce and prevent the nearby eater from being destroyed. If we can resto...

If the "non-Gosper gun" shows up instead of a proper GGG, I will still cheerfully admit defeat, of course. That's a 3QB, so I feel pretty safe. Well, Tropylium's second p30 gun in that thread does have an advantage over the regular GGG in that it can be built up one component at a time, allowing a ...

That reaction is missing one of the key components a fuse needs to have to be used in a ship: It needs to recreate the input to the fuse as (part of) its output so that it can be burned again in the same direction. This (13,4)c/41 fuse may burn gliders and output gliders, but the output gliders are ...

Re: NoTimeAtAll - A circuit rule with squishy signals
I think the concept is good - and being able to have fully p1 logic is quite nice. However, the fact that signals take up space and cannot be cleanly (let alone selectively) deleted in-line seems like a considerable disadvantage to me - it's like the circuit has memory leaks everywhere that can't be...
