This tail with a tail on two tables takes 19 generations to turn into just a tail with tail without the tables, but moved one block diagonally. There is no glider synthesis known for tables, so this is useless.

If you place a single black cell any multiple of 3 blocks away from the spaceship's starting position, the spaceship gets reflected and still leaves the one cell in the same place:

Sorry for the short, tangential question, but once you've found some salvos to generate an object, how do you determine where the gliders should start to have a second iteration? Do you have to manually figure out where they would be and what phase they are in?
