Re: Thread for basic questions

Does Period-156 glider gun actually have a 16G synthesis? The synthesis cost was added by Entity Valkyrie a few days after he first joined but with no RLE provided. I tried to synthesize it myself, but couldn't stop the gliders from crossing paths (which to be fair is more likely because of my inco...

Re: Stable signal converters

Here's a glider-to-25P3H1V0.2 converter. It has a bounding box of 1189 by 1000. Unfortunately, once again there is quite a bit of empty space in the middle, but I don't see how it can be removed: x = 1189, y = 1000, rule = LifeHistory 460.16B303.2A$460.16B302.A.A$460.16B296.2A4.A$460.16B294.A2.A2.2A...

Looks good! I gave the script a quick run and ran into a problem that implies some additional constraint not mentioned above:... ...The NEmost glider was placed at (50,-44), and I added edge shooters in order NEmost, middle, SWmost... ...The script worked perfectly, except that the activation glide...

Re: Stable signal converters

Now that we have another diagonal signal, I think things are pretty good. So you could choose a cheaper or more expensive spaceship recipe depending on how much of a challenge you want. More diagonal things would still be good, so if your builder scripts are getting good enough, there's always a gl...

Re: Stable signal converters

Okay, here's a completed glider-to-crab converter. It has a bounding box of 1065x1213, which can definitely be cut down (an example being bringing in the snark in the NE). It's repeat time is 189 ticks, which would be lower if not for the sparkiness of the Fx119 edgeshooters: x = 1065, y = 1213, rul...

Posting here to announce that all syntheses of 15-bit still-lifes have been reduced to below 14 gliders. This result can be seen here on catagolue . However, in it's current state the list is slightly confusing since it also includes some pseudo still-lifes. Looking at the list, you can see that all...
