Walkthrough Here's a file that can be adjusted to make an infile.mc for both the initial destruction stage, and the following construction stage:... Done! That's all there is to it -- the pattern in Golly should now be a working oscillator. The loop can be reduced in size considerably by moving all...

This will be good to have. Do you happen to have the specific calls you used to create the gencols output? Seems like it might be a good idea to adapt the search to use 2718281828's three-glider collision collection . Haven't looked yet to see if something has to be done to handle different orienta...

Re: Soup search results

A common method of reducing glider syntheses is by using 3 glider collisions to synthesize a constellation. I've made a script that should make this a lot easier for people. However it is in python, which I know several people have been unable to get to work with Golly. This method can still work if...

Note: New post because of a completely unrelated topic... There have been some rumblings about an edge-shooter assembly script that might produce a complete and close-to-optimized glider-to-salvo converter. The script that chris_c posted in April certainly works for picking workable inserters, but ...

Re: Script request thread

Does anyone have a script to convert an rle to a plaintext file? It would be very useful to make input files for programs like gencols. I've been searching for a while now and the only one I found was a c program by Mark Niemiec from 1997, which I couldn't get to work.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe the next gun will be found by catalyzing the excess wing in 132P37 ? That's a possibility. There are also the two types of p31 oscillators, which are each quite sparky. The p42 pre-pulsar hassler might also be a good place to start. They all sound quite possible. It's easy to use a spark to e...

I'll go to the tutorial. How to use Catagolue to find glider synthesis? It just generates some strange soup.
