Re: Extended pattern collection for Golly

Hmm, maybe we could add this p1016 'startlingly prolific gun' I found:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 7, rule = B2-ac3ai/S1c2-n3-aky4a
2bo$bob2o$2o2bo$4bo$3bo$4bo$3b2o!
Although that might just be me taking higher priority with things that I discovered. What's that called again?

Apgsearch v4.0 seems to have frozen up, how can I tell what current soup it's on? It's on a non-explosive rule/symmetry, b2-ac3i4as12/D8_1.

EDIT: This happened in haul l_YgxgVTdymhXD , at some soup between 182968-200000

If there was no limit, someone could engineer an unimaginably huge spaceship at some random high speed and count it.

I see, yeah I guess the limit doesn't really make sense. I'd just say to stick to non-extremely high periods. 1679 is within the realm of 'oh that makes sense'

Which sucks because I really like that spaceship, although there's an insane amount of knightship displacements when the period gets really high, so the project would begin to consume space.

I would probably consider joining. This is definitely something that will appeal more to the younger members, I'd imagine. (Including me) Sandbox and General definitely shouldn't be mixed, as Sandbox is a nice testing/playing-around area and general is for community stuff and just discussing Life in...

Re: Rulesrc: Finding rules for a spaceship

Towards a Progressive Rulesrc A self-correcting Rulesrc would be interesting enough to attempt to find cell configurations, but one of the initial steps is to allow variation in the number of identical generations. Note that this yields similar and not necessarily identical ships, but for many purp...

I've called this set of rules 'BlockDeath', and it's when you take a rule and add B2e and S1c, but subtract S3a and it miraculously remains stable most of the time. BlockDeathtlife is extremely stable, with most soups devolving into a series of c/2 gliders and sparks: x = 32, y = 32, rule = B2e3/S1c...
