Speaking of converters...
Is there a list of known converters or "metamorphosis" reactions?
The link here leads to a Webpage Not Found error.

Re: Gustavo Ramos Rehermann's patterns

Just as a update, my Internet downed for a very long time since someday of the past month, but I did backed it yesterday. Either way, I can tell that no one still told me any LWSS to HWSS converter which I could use for my new gun... Does this count? x = 17, y = 19, rule = B3/S23 6b3o5b2o$8bo5bobo$...

I thought about using these functions. They might be helpful. # Puts the x-coordinates and y-coordinates in "pattern" in two-element lists inside a new list def zip_pattern(pattern): return [[pattern[i], pattern[i + 1]] for i in range(0, len(pattern), 2)] # Takes two-element lists inside a list and ...

This is off topic, but about JavaLifeSearch.
I notice that JavaLifeSearch does not search for sparks that die off in the next few generations or so. How do I allow sparks? (Is it at least possible?)

How are new spaceship syntheses discovered? I recall here that Extrementhusiast said "to step the pattern back until it looks like something constructable", but that is a bit tricky... very, very tricky. Is it because I am not experienced enough? Sure, that sounds reasonable... bearing in mind that...

Re: Python Questions

I would suggest using Python's built-in set container (of 2- tuples ) instead of a list, since it has precisely the insertion, querying and deletion operations you require. Search for the emboldened words if you haven't encountered these data structures yet. I read the documentation on sets . Appar...

Re: Python Questions

What is the best way to determine whether a given cell is in a cell list, without putting the pattern on the screen and using golly.getcell()? I have the feeling the answer is simple... Not that simple, just because a Golly cell list isn't a list of coordinate pairs, it's just a long list of number...

So to make a custom Herschel conduit, just try attaching conduits to each other. If you're using Patterns/Signal-Circuitry/Herschel-conduit-stamp-collection.rle, the idea is to overlap the white-and-red output Herschel in one conduit with the yellow input Herschel of another conduit, making sure th...

I'm never tried making a gun, so I have a few questions.
What is the best edge shooter?
How is the gun assembled? (human, script, etc.)
How are customary Hershel conduits made, like ones with a specific period or direction?

How do I find catalysts to substitute still lifes in a reaction, when I can't run Python? The search programs that place catalysts for you aren't written in Python. I noticed that my function in my previous post had an error. I was pondering it until now. The bug is Golly returns cell lists as x first, then y, but sorts them y first, and then x. Isn't this like Life 1.06? Some tips: You don't need TopLeft. Just add the TopLeft x-coordinate to all of truecells x-coordinates, and add the TopLeft y-coordinate to all of truecells y-coordinates. Some questions: What is Size for? Doesn't space matter? This format will not work well with highly-po...
