Re: A circuit ruleset

Hello, nice rule table. I found long period pattern based on recurrence relation: A(n)=A(n-1) XOR A(n-29). I found period of this relation is long but finite, and pattern's period is over 4 mln. (I called it PseudoWW as it reminds me WireWorld) x = 15, y = 14, rule = PseudoWW 3A.3A.3A.3A$5A.A.A.A.A....

I'm not able to run this pattern for 1 bln generations, but after almost 100 mln gens it looks more chaotic than ever before. It still doesn't show any regularity nor periodicity

Re: Thread For Your Accidental Discoveries

There are several block eaters. Most common are

Code: Select all

x = 17, y = 3, rule = LifeHistory
.A$2A2.2C4.3A2.2C$.A2.2C6.A2.2C!
Second one is used in p30 glider gun, and thus is important part of p30 circuitry

Yes, I'd really appreciate that. Also, you should include that for 3 or more active neighbors wire stays intact

Re: Thread for your unsure discoveries

Pattern in bottom right is methuselah, but whole pattern isn't (within normal definition of methuselah). This is nice longly staying pattern, but most methuselahs have relatively small bounding box (mostly defined as up to 20x20)

Re: Fun with Oscillators in HPP-Gas

Congratulations! You've secured two records and a possible third! I say "possible" because your Challenge 3 entry just might a long time to stabilize, yet be a low-period oscillator. For Challenge 4, your high-period oscillator is ineligible (because there is too much gas), and you do not have the ...

I'm not good at differential equations, but as far as I know Life rule would be hard to represent as differential equation, as it bases on discrete values. Most differential equations are used in systems with continuum of states, time and/or space, but I can be wrong

Re: Universal binary CA commutative with XOR

Such automata are called self-complementary. There is 16 such 1D range 1 automata, and almost surely none of them is universal. Great example of self-complementary automaton is B3678/S34678, called Day & Night. Such 2D automata almost certainly contain some universal ones. It can be hard to prove, b...
