Re: Adapting gfind
Ah okay. I believe I was trying to do a l126 search, but then again, my 2007 computer is old. Plus, I can't upgrade it. I estimate that it'll be around 45 minutes on my end. Perhaps I should just work on algorithms and code for the time being. XD

Re: Adapting gfind
BTW, Paul, I was searching a bit higher than level 100. Anyways, on Stack Exchange's Math site, I had an epiphany. Somebody told me how de Bruijn graphs worked, and I came up with a theory as to how they might be searched. You look for Hamiltonian paths through the graph, until you come upon one tha...

Re: Adapting gfind
Hmm... The MINDEEP patch for me seems to slow it down a bit. Especially at high levels. b3s23/n1/o7/a/e4/lNN was how I did it.

Re: A new GoL searching program
Mostly the algorithms. I've tried and tried to decipher them, but to no avail. It might just be because gfind is 2000 lines of C code.

Re: Online Database of Unsuccessful GFIND Searches
n1o9l72a gives me nothing. Increasing the level to 90 is also fruitless, but it takes much longer. I'll try it with up to width 7.

A new GoL searching program
I've been thinking about trying to search for c/8 or c/9 spaceships, but the existing programs out there are either too slow, or too complicated to understand. So, I figured I'd make my own. However, I have no earthly idea, on how to begin. I would like to have a program that's about as fast as gfin...

Re: Improvement of gfind?
I have now found renewed interest in improving gfind, and I shall at least try to make it able to search for any oblique spaceship.

New c/3 spaceship!
Well, yeah... I found it with GFIND, making it practically INVINCIBLE, which DOESN'T EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE! Ugh, I just HAD to quote something Powerthirst-esque. Oh, whatever, I CAN'T KEEP STALLING! x = 15, y = 9, rule = B3/S23 b2obobobobob2o$o3b3ob3o3bo$bob2obobob2obo$2bob2o3b2obo$5bo3bo2$5bo3bo$ 6b3...

Improvement of gfind?
Hey, guys! I've been thinking, even though gfind is a good tool, it's not perfect! So, I propose that we improve gfind to have more features, be faster, and to have different optimization settings! Anybody wanna help?

Well, it's just, I don't like the command line, and plus, I didn't start it from the command prompt.
Re: LWSS gun
Actually, for Golly, it won't let me move objects without undo, and then copy. How do I move the objects, otherwise?

Re: Online Database of Unsuccessful GFIND Searches
Well, I think that we should give gfind a GUI, for MUCH easier use.
I'm good with console C++, by the way! Okay, I'm not THAT good.

New and elegant methuselah
I found this methuselah that's similarly looking to Kok's Galaxy. Here it is! x = 18, y = 18, rule = B3/S23 $b3ob12o$b3ob12o$b3ob12o$b3o$b3o10b3o$b3o10b3o$b3o10b3o$b3o10b3o$b3o 10b3o$b3o10b3o$b3o10b3o$b3o10b3o$14b3o$b12ob3o$b12ob3o$b12ob3o! Re: Why must a knightship have a period of 6 or more?
1x1 movement can only be done at c/2, or lower, so that means, that a knightship, with 2x1 movement can only be done at period 6, or higher.
And a camelship, with it's 3x1 movement can only be done at period 8, or higher, right?

I need the answer to these questions, please:
1. How many ways are there for 2 LWSS' to collide?
2. How many LWSS' does it take to make a glider, and how is it done?
