Re: Thread for basic questions
Is there a known lower bound on the possible asymptotic growth rate for the population of a pattern in CGoL wrt number of steps? For example could there exist a pattern whose growth rate is slower than log^(i)(t) for all i, where log^(i) denotes log composed with itself i times?

4-Life (LtL R2,S4,B4)
I am very surprised how little exploration into this rule I could find online, based on how simple it is to describe and how interesting the dynamics are that it produces. I could only find two other mentions of it online, one of which was by Kellie Evans in her thesis where she named it the LtL rul...

Re: Thread for basic non-CGOL questions
Is there any program that can support searching semi-exploding rules in LtL? I want to find oscillators and a diagonal ship in the rule R2,C0,S4,B4. Its a very interesting rule which Kellie Evans named as the LtL rule with the most interesting dynamics in her thesis, but for some reason it seems no ...

Re: Thread for your script-related questions
Are there any search programs capable of searching for spaceships in chaotic LTL rules that don't necessarily stabilize? Specifically, I want to search for diagonal spaceships in the rule R2,C0,S4,B4. It's a very interesting rule with a number of common orthogonal spaceships, however there is one so...

Re: Pattern viewer for forum threads
I'm confused about how to get a state to change to a different color if it's been alive for more than one generation. I tried using ALIVERAMP, but that makes it slowly change to a different color over time. I'd like any living cell which wasn't just born to immediately switch to a completely differe...

Re: Larger than Life
Is there any way to put LtL with non-continuous B/S conditions into Golly? For example, a rule with range 2 Moore neighborhood where cells survive with 4 neighbors and are born with 4 or 6 neighbors (but not 5).

Re: Rule request thread
I’d like to request a rule called Knightlife, which is the same as Conways GOL but the neighborhood is changed such that a cell is considered a neighbor if it is a chess knight’s move away from the considered cell. Can be done with a LifeViewer rulestring thanks to custom neighborhoods : x = 0, y =...
