Re: HROT,NW (Higher-range outer-totalistic, weighted)
I've been exploring a variant of Minibugs lately (R2,C2,S6-9,14-20,B7-8,15-24,NM or r2bffc0c0s0fe1e0). The rule has photons of many periods, with periods 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 33, 40 and 88 known. x = 429, y = 109, rule = R2,C2,S6-9,14-20,B7-8,15-24 127bobobo32bo3bo32bobobo31bobobo22b...

Re: zfind discussion
If I'm not wrong, zfind is able to search for knightships. Does anyone know how the gfind search space is modified in order to allow for these searches? I was working on implementing oblique / diagonal searches for cfind (unfortunately oblique searches don't work yet), so I'm curious to see how this...

Re: GliderDB Reader
yes, it does take some time to load because it needs to load the entirety of the multiple GliderDBs for each neighbourhood and number of states as well as the 5S databases. Would it be possible in future to split this into several different pages, one per rulespace/database? That could make it fast...

Re: GliderDB Reader
Which neighbourhood and number of states does the new GliderDB have? Previously I was maintaining a database of ships in 2-state R2 Von Neumann, R2 Moore and 3-state generations rules. I haven't updated them in quite awhile though. I'll probably make a thread for them some time soon (likely when I ...

I've finally gotten around to updating the GliderDB reader and the new link is here https://gliderdb-reader.vercel.app/ . [...] For me, the link opens a blank page where nothing happens. Does anyone see a working page? edit : it seems to work after reopening and waiting for several minutes. yes, it...

I've finally gotten around to updating the GliderDB reader and the new link is here https://gliderdb-reader.vercel.app/ . The code can be found at https://github.com/jedlimlx/gliderdb-reader . Also B0 rules are now supported for the 5S database queries. Hopefully I'll have more time to update it reg...

Re: Speed limits and theorems about the existence of periodic objects
I was also thinking about why some generations rules seem to have missing speeds. I have managed to prove that for rules like Brian's Brain with no survival conditions, ships with k = 1 can only exist with period of 1 or period larger than the number of states. The proof is attached as a PDF because...

Re: CAViewer - A Cellular Automaton Simulator written in Java
How can I create and run a rule table which operates on, for example, a higher-range Moore neighbourhood? I've been wondering what range-9 mod-3 replication looks like, since 1D parity rules look less messy when the number of copies is a perfect power of the number of states. It’s the same as a nor...

Re: Speed limits and theorems about the existence of periodic objects
Ok so I was working on some proofs for HROT rules, here they are. Definitions Let w_ij be the weights of the rule in the ith column and the jth row and they can either be 0 or 1 (the 0th row/column is the centre one). We will assume the neighbourhood weights are D8 symmetric. Let the sets B, S repre...

3. there must be no births in the set { sum(S): S ∈ { 𝒫({w_ij : i ≥ 2} ∪ {w_ij + w_(i+2)j : 1 ≥ i ≥ R - 2 }) } }. (preserve column one cell to the left of the central column) I don't yet follow this part. At least the inequality 1 ≥ i ≥ R - 2 must be incorrect (e.g. if R = 4, it becomes 1 ≥ i ≥ 2 w...

Can a rule preserve a gutter more than one cell wide? There already exists a notation for this which I implemented in CAViewer. Basically, I took the same approach as with R2 Von Neumann rules (see https://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3808). It uses the Cross INT notation (see https://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?&p=101003#p101003,...

Being able to identify which extension is more promising would significantly speed up the ship searching speed. One possible way to do this wo...
