Re: (Fun writing) Let's pretend civilisation has just been discovered!
guys i found out how the sun wor-- just kidding :) now, more seriously, i just discovered that there's this place between the tigris and the euphrates where they invented something called "money" why don't we do the same? Nah, sounds like a bad idea. We can just exchange stuff. Why give value to me...

Re: (Fun writing) Let's pretend civilisation has just been discovered!
(Time to unfreeze this long standoff. No, tin wasn't isolated immediately. It, as well as bronze overall, was first found as a trace component of copper ores that wasn't isolated for a while. About 3500 BC, I say slightly older. We don't have a word about cities occurring yet, so, while we can theor...

I don't think we have the appropriate kilns to smelt copper and tin (you made a mistake; zinc is used in brass instead) yet. Para's been inactive for a few days; once he returns I'll solve this with him.

Hi, being the moderator here I feel an urge to respond. I agree fully with Para, b-engine is going on with the stuff too fast. It's not the way. At the amounts Para had discovered copper in it would take a whole lot of rock, time and effort for anything resembling a tool. I agree with Haycat's gold ...

I have frequently been feeding local animals, they trust me now. We apparently can enclose them and breed for food and other useful things!
You are going a little too fast, we need copper and bronze first. And gemsand gold could be nice too.b-engine wrote:iron

This is becoming a problem. Heav, if you aren't willing to contribute productively, please don't post. No insults intended. The joke was OK once, but it's too much now. We also need to do these early phases well, for we have a good chance of either rushing them big-time or prolonging it so much it i...

(So here we, in a manner akin to https://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5966, discover civilisation step by step from scratch, 'inventing' various things and perhaps naming them a fun way, with maybe some worldbuilding and culture too, but I don't plan to majorly impact this, so do whate...

Re: I THINK I FOUND A NEW STILL LIFE!!!!
For me, it’s the opposite way around. Before July or something this year, I was actually contributing, mostly in oscillators, but after that point, there kind of really wasn’t anything in the related threads, so I went to The Sandbox. What about doing OCA? if you mean creating a rule, technically t...

yeah, at first i was like that (when i "discovered" the glider's parent, one of my very first posts here), but now, despite being most often in the sandbox i actually contribute useful stuff (in oca), so... it's never too late to change! and if i, the completely offtopic guy who does everything at ...

I don't really get what are ya talking about, so I will say nothing, but I'd like to point out that the reflector has an odd period of 15, possibly making problems when aiming for p2 circuitry with blinkers and duoplets. 2 reflectors could solve a good deal of the problem though, though it would req...

One of several related eaters for the rare natural ship. It isn't much, but proves that they can hypothetically be used in circuitry in some ways and is helpfully made of blocks instead of some rarity. Also works with the 2 alternate versions of the ship. x = 23, y = 12, rule = B2e3aciy4jnw68/S23678...

If HighLife was the Conway's rule, how'd CGOL be called?
Hi. JHC had said before that he wished HighLife was the rule he originally found instead of CGOL due to liking some of its characteristics. If this by some luck indeed was the case, how would B3/S23 be called in that universe?

Synthesising stuff in TF has proven to be rather challenging so far. We should advance in that field.
I challenge you all to synthesise this.

Stickworld’s Number (usually represented by the Russian letter л) is a number existing within Andrew-Moooosey set theory that has the exact value of harpoon(gamma(b)), which is approximately equal to 20.333427. Thus it it commonly approximated as 61/3. The number is named for the fact that the grap...

Writing a lot of posts fast is not a very good thing usually, unless you are a really bountiful discoverer. Most people will see it as annoying at best and spamming at worst.
