Re: Catagolue Discussion Thread

Indeed, 10^15 objects is definitely coming in C1. What's more of an unknown is when all 15-bit still lifes will have shown up. After a large burst of seven found in the first quarter of 2020, progress has slowed to a trickle, with just a single new xs15 turning up since then. Here's a graph. Anyone ...

Re: Catagolue Discussion Thread

Just an FYI. Last night, someone created and submitted hauls to b3s23/C1 with these user names: The LifeWiki contains one of the most comprehensive catalogues of patterns available on the internet For ADs messege(long mesagge), minimum size of hauls must be set to increase the cost of spamming to pr...

Re: apgsearch v5.0

The current WSL2 version doesn't have CUDA support yet, though it does have GPU hardware support. There are builds available on Windows Insiders Program with CUDA support, currently they require a custom NVIDIA driver. See https://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/wsl-user-guide/index.html for details and insta...

Re: apgsearch v5.0

Recently acquired an Nvidia GPU and thought I'd try apgluxe in cuda mode (G1). Built it under Win 10/WSL (note: had to edit the makefile to specify 'g++-8' or it gave an error). Current version of WSL does not support full GPU application. With later win10 2004 update, it is said that WSL2 will be ...

Re: Soup search results

We are getting an immense number of illegitimate hauls to C1 today from 'Anonymous' -- 150,000,000-soup hauls (with only about 2.2 million objects each) are coming in every 16 to 18 seconds. An attack of some sort?

That VM is now idle because there aren't any more new pieces available to run.
If you need a piece to work on, you're welcome to take control of 0043 and/or 0057 (neither has been started, and judging by the speed of current pieces, I won't be getting to them for some time).

Re: Help me finish this c/8 search

I'm running four in parallel (2 threads each) and the worst is 0042, at depth 135/deepening 77 and 16 hours between dumps. I may move it to another machine (currently busy with apgsearch) and give it more threads.

But no crashes, so they'll doubtless all finish up eventually.

Re: Help me finish this c/8 search

Here's the bash script I use to search multiple pieces over night. Save it in the search folder as "runsearch". I'm using this on Linux and Cygwin64. That's really nice. Just a note: I had to change '\e' to '\033' to get the colors to work on a Mac using iTerm2 app. Can you get it to beep like mad ...

Re: Help me finish this c/8 search

Sounds like several people have hit hard-to-search pieces by this time, though presumably a day or a week's worth of patience will eventually get them completed. For the first few pieces, my system was able to handle doing the search in the background in 6-12 hours with no apparent strain. But now ...

It took over 3-1/2 years, but we now have a second xs45 in C1 (although it has already occurred in other symmetries since it is symmetrical).
