Re: B2-m3-o/S2m3-p4-m5H

I've apgsearched this rule a lot. Looks like there are no useful natural oscillators. And linear growth is a little bit too common for my taste. But I think there's either this or no long-enough-lasting chaos at all for hexagonal rules. Anyway, here's a small seed for a c/2 puffer with interesting i...

Re: B2-m3-o/S2m3-p4-m5H

Thank you for searching! I've tried to launch a search myself, but it didn't work. After seeing that you successfully searched with the same versions of apgmera and lifelib as mine, I tried to compile and search again, and it worked. I don't know what that was. Anyway, I'm going to search something ...

B2-m3-o/S2m3-p4-m5H

I decided to explore hexagonal neighborhood a bit because it is more symmetrical than Moore neighborhood (which has differently-behaved sides and corners), and more visually pleasing (for me) than von Neumann neighborhood. I soon discovered that totalistic rulespace is too small (7 raw bits for birt...

Re: Building a river [GAME]

Looping isn't allowed if that would give you an oscillator. (Which in your case, it did end up being an oscillator.) Oh, I somehow missed that point. I didn't see big herschel loop as a big oscillator. Here is improved version, with loop being shut down: x = 468, y = 507, rule = B3/S23 368b2o$361b2...

Re: Building a river [GAME]

Today's theme is: glider snatching, manual welding, underestimating correct timing complexity. Looping isn't prohibited by the rules, at least not explicitly. And it was designed in such a way that it can be easily stopped. The stopping reaction is marked. x = 320, y = 393, rule = B3/S23 220b2o$213b...

2.3G C1 soups searched and still no natural linear growth.

Looks like patterns in this rule tend to die more often and stabilize to less amount of ash compared to CGOL.

Interesting. Can you provide those dump files? Did any other pieces complete successfully without crashing?
As soon as I remember there were no other crushes beside these.

I've included one dump before the fault just in case.

Re: SuperLH rule

I like that rule already!
Editing signal circuitry is a lot easier with labeling and making history envelope contained.

I'd suggest adding 4 more converter states (marked on/off with and w/o trail) so that you could annotate outputs with different colors.

Why some cases of non-interacting spaceships are combined into one "spaceship"?
For example, here there are cases where the distance between spaceships is always at least 2 squares.

Thanks! By "why there's no haul" I mean why such an obvious (to me) rule, only 2 transistion from Life, have not been throughly searched? There are more than 5k rules at 2 transitions from Life. And there are 528 rules if you allow only changes to the numbers 2 or 3. That's a lot to thoroughly sear...

I could toss them into wildmyron's queue script
Python script is overkill for that.
Here is simple bash version:

while read piece
do
    echo Processing $piece
    ./qfind-c8 $piece t$THREADS > out_$piece
done <queue.txt

It appears that, in the rare case that an internal glider collision (after a sufficient lapse) "restarts" a soup which later produces a block-laying switch engine, the switch engine is at least sometimes misclassified: https://catagolue.appspot.com/object/yl144_1_16_9cdca6cf6fa2778709f5c4224db518e7...
