Re: Thread for basic questions
The p6 found in Cloudsale makes me question the current definition of trivial. Under that definition, that p6 would be trivial since no cell oscillates at the full period, but that oscillator looks quite non-trivial despite satisfying that definition. Maybe the definition should be changed to: An os...

Re: Catagolue Oddities
Some ov_p2s have apparently appeared in the C1 census. However, the soups that produce the "p2" are just completely normal soups. I suspect this is a separation issue that treats normal ash as a single object.

Langton's Ant Challenge
After discovering several LA rules that take more than a billion steps to settle into predictable behavior, I decided on making this thread inspired by this one. The challenge is to discover a rule that has 12 colors or less and breaks the following record: LLLLLLLLRL (2,130,000,000 steps) A rule of...

AFAIK, there aren't any sections for patterns in hexagonal neighborhoods, except for the ones in the rule table repository. Could that be a new section in the patterns folder?
For example, there could be select patterns in B2/S34H, 22da, B2om/S2, B2o/S2m34, and several other rules.

Unfortunately, that's going to require a rewrite of the code.
