Re: Non-totalistic CA Growth Challenge

Pattern got cut off, but I see where are you going. This has enormous potential, but could you prove that it ever stabilizes? Because I run some tests on calcyman's "machine" and I think I found a flaw. First, without switch engine breeder: x = 369, y = 464, rule = B3/S23 150bo$151bob2obobo$145b3o3b...

Re: Non-totalistic CA Growth Challenge

As i wrote in first post,
FI score ~= 25 million, much bigger than anything mentioned above (except the engineered enormous calcyman's one).
I KNOW that calcyman's pattern has bigger FI than mine, but it is engineered, and mine is natural.

Re: Non-totalistic CA Growth Challenge

Yes, but not by FI. Yours has FI of 11.2 million, over 2 times less than mine. I'm not going for FIG record, even the previous one (135.8 ) was much bigger than FIG of my pattern.

Re: Non-totalistic CA Growth Challenge

So... no higher FI score than mine?

More precise numbers: I=MCPS=5, F=126332900 (+-400, oscillating), G=526980 (+-10, really hard to tell), F/I =~ 25266580, F/(I*G) =~ 47.9

After stabilizing:

Kinda old topic, but I think I found smth. Probably record-breaking natural FI score, though not the fig index. x = 4, y = 4, rule = B2in34-ajnrt5cekqy678/S12n34ceijqz5678 3bo$obo$bo$2bo! Re: Rules with interesting dynamics

Yeah, that page... Contains very little information though. All pages in "learn more" section don't exist. Fig index is used only here, in "Non-totalistic CA Growth Challenge" and nowhere else. Why?

Also, how high Fig index a pattern should have to consider it "worth noticing"?

Re: Rules with interesting dynamics

Smaller Fig index (about 1.67), but MUCH more complex behaviour

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 10, rule = B2ce3ai4a5a/S1c3-a4567c8
6o2bo$3ob6o$b9o$4o2b4o$4ob5o$ob7o$2b5ob2o$3ob2obobo$2ob7o$b2ob6o!
Also, "Fig index" seems to be a parameter created and used only on this forum, only on one topic. Why does it matter?

bobo2bobo$2bo4bo$10o$b2o4b2o$b3o3b2o$b2o3bo2bo$9bo!
at about 81k gens a breeder-like pattern occurs, which causes much quicker population growth, and everything much quicker becomes impossible to simulate.

Nice rule though :)

Nice p49 there, Layz Boi! How did you find it?

Also, I'm wondering if Castles have any guns. Not only I could not construct any, but I didn't see any of these ships - even the simplest ones - to occur naturally.

Discoveries in Castles (B3678/S135678)

Everything I discovered so far in this rule (Some discoveries were already uploaded on several topics) Most apgsearch-size soups (about 90%) will grow to big clusters - "castles" - of average population about 250k. There will be a few holes inside - "chambers" - and some oscillators on the outer wal...

The uber-methuselah which has lifespan of 7*10^15 is really neat, but its population still grows to infinity, and that was supposed to be not allowed. We can open a new topic for infinite-growing patterns probably?
