Scrap the LtL Formatting already!

2017 was the year in which we finally saw an implementation of the Larger than Life family of rules in Golly, eventually followed at the end of 2018 by LifeViewer. LifeViewer, at around the same time, implemented general outer-totalistic rules with ranges exceeding 1 due to lifelib (and therefore ap...

The [[ STARTFROM ]] command wants the number of generations which are played in the current direction.
For the button under the Pattern menu, shouldn't the popup say "Enter number of generations" rather than "Enter generation"?

The new command (and by extension, the button) doesn't seem to function as expected for negative generations and reversible rules: x = 10, y = 10, rule = PCA_4 2ob2o2b3o$o3b6o$o2b2o$b2o6bo$bobo2bob2o$ob4ob3o$b2ob2o3bo$4bo$ob4o$2ob 2obobo! Re: Pattern viewer for forum threads

It seems the blue box behaviour is back in the latest build. Questions: Does this only happen on mobile Safari (i.e. on an iPad or iPhone)? Does it happen only on conwaylife Forum or other places (specifically including this place ) when clicking PopUp? Does it only happen when the blue box appears...

[R]Super's default colors also differ significantly from the ones specified in Golly - specifically states 1 and 2, which were made to look as close to the Blues theme as possible for the original ruletable (whose specification carried on into Golly). I think they're the same as Golly. Just checked...

Re: Classifying replicators

Perhaps it would be possible to classify replicators using two separate sets of displacement and period? This case has a stationary copy of period 18, and creates a second copy in generation 19, shifted 9 cells orthogonally. So perhaps we could call it something along the lines of [(0,0)c/18, (9,0)c...

What type of replicator is this?

Two-dimensional and obviously therefore not something that we plan on classifying at the moment, as was very, very clearly stated in the second paragraph in the first post. Did you even read it?

However, this does not at all cover orientation, the rules the replicators follow, or cover any replicators which replicate out of phase with eachother. Classifying replicators

At this point, the classification of periodic non-infinitely-growing patterns is basically standardised across square-grid CA: two numbers to symbolise displacement, and a third value for period, can be used to describe any spaceship, and for objects with zero displacement we can ignore the displace...
