Re: Cobalt

Would range-2 vN isonontot be a possibility, using the conventional notation? Not without a significant change in the code. EDIT: Sorry, but there's one thing that I forgot to ask about. Can you draw out such an "allow non-isotropic transitions" button for me? I don't know what it should look like....

Re: Thread for basic questions

Does anyone happen to still have any of the older versions of MJCell (before v.1.50)? The only ones I've been able to get are v.1.50 and v.1.51. I've set up an archival index to keep track on what versions we have and what we don't. I've also set up an index for Alan Hensel's old Java applet, if an...

Is it possible to add StateInvestigator and Symbiosis (or SymbiosisEV2)?
For the former: wouldn't it be better to collectively work on a standard [R]Extended specification for the Super algorithm?

On the prior topic of Identify: there's still a discrepancy between normal/History and Super for the traffic lights example, as it takes 15 rather than 13.
Please post the pattern here.

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 2, rule = LifeHistory
.A$3A!

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 2, rule = LifeSuper
.A$3A!

Re: Pattern viewer for forum threads

Analysing the mysterious, unpredictable, no-blue-box slowdowns I seem to be getting now (generally after prolonged activity on one page), the frames seem to be reported as fluctuating around 40 to 50 fps, and a widely varying percentage as well. On the prior topic of Identify: there's still a discre...

Thanks! I'll start working on it when I'm ready. In the meantime, do you have any other features you would like to see added?
You'll regret asking that soon enough.

Re: Cobalt

So there would probably be some sort of button on the menu on the left that says "allow non-isotropic selections". If pressed, and then a transition is pressed, you'd get this window, which would display all 2, 4 or 8 of the transition's variations. Here's how the B4k transition would be laid out, f...

Re: 5S project in Catagolue: can we finally do this thing?

My proposal for layout: all periods would have a dedicated page with a table. The main census page would have a list of natural numbers (integers 1 and up) which correspond to known periods and would when clicked take readers to the table page. I've created an example table layout at this page . For...

Re: Cobalt

Just add a button somewhere that says "allow non-isotropic selections". If active, pressing on one of the transitions would show up to eight buttons in the center of the screen that could be toggled on or off. Sure. Do you have a mockup of what it might look like? I may be able to do something in m...

Re: Pattern viewer for forum threads

As can probably be told from the above report I've done a spot of thinking about B0/strobing rules and LifeViewer's support thereof. Currently there's quite a few rules that fall under the scary B0 umbrella that LifeViewer can't or won't simulate, for understandable reasons, but I'd prefer it if the...
