Re: Thread for basic questions
How does the apgcode syntax code work? apgcode Alternatively yl111_2_3_444 are encoded so that: 111 is the amount of generations for the population plot to repeat, that's why there are yl1's in some non-b2a rules. 2 has something to do with the period of the ash 3 is the population of the ash, I do...

Re: Miscellaneous Discoveries in Other Cellular Automata
Can this be stabilized? It would be fun to see alien switch engines, but none have appeared in apgsearch (probably due to the brittleness of this variant):
Any other transitions that leave the main switch engine engine intact?

Re: Catagolue Oddities
Are there any variant rulestrings that people have typed, or might actually type, by accident in good faith, that could result in their hauls going off into an annoying separate bin somewhere? Like b3-s23 (negative but no letters afterward) or s23b3, anything along those lines? "D4 +4" was a symmet...

Mucked around with Nico Brown's search program(s) that I recently re-found in my PMs to get some oscillators: x = 96, y = 114, rule = B3-ck7e/S23-cr4q6c 10b2ob2ob2o15bo23bo$10b2ob2ob2o14b2o23b2o$31bo3bo19bo3bo$16b2o12b2o3b 2o17b2o3b2o$16b2o19bo15bo$32b2o3b2o13b2o7b2o$10b2ob2ob2o15bo28bo$10b2o b2ob2o...

Re: Thread for basic questions
What would it take to run a search where a glider hits 2-5 still lifes (with honey farms and fleets and bakeries, and 3/4 honey farms and 1/2 honey farms as well. No oscillators) and releases a glider and makes the debris reform but moved a bit? Kind of like HBK . Then they could be rubbed together ...

The problem with that is that some rules have lots of those error messages (B2ce3ai/S1c23-a, Movostill 2, etc.), so I feel like it may cause problems searching those rules, any ideas on how to add an option to disable this?mniemiec wrote:"x would take infeasibly long to brute-force separate"

(Sorry for all the threads lately >.< I just think this rule is cool.) B2ce3-ir4a5y/S2-c3-y is pretty interesting. Can't post a pattern collection at the moment, but B2ce3-ir4a5y/S2-c3-y is really cool. It has all sorts of wonky spaceships of several velocities, weird oscillators, and a p48 failed replicator that turns into two sparky spaceships. There's also a p24 gun I made out of p2 conduits and said failed re...
