Re: Spaceships in Life-like cellular automata

From a discussion yesterday on the ConwayLife Lounge discord server, Four new speeds in B024/S023. I apparently forgot to post this here. A large 3c/5o wickstretcher (stabilized back) in Josh Ball's rule. Does 2c/14o count as a new speed? (c/7o is already known)

c/5o in B367/S238. Re: OCADOTY 2021 Nominee Collection Thread

I think you two might have misread. This is for collecting nominees of this year's upcoming OCADOTY (notice 2021), because so much stuff happens in OCA that it's hard to keep track of.

OCADOTY 2021 Nominee Collection Thread

With so many things happening in the world of OCA (as it is much larger than the 1-rule world of CGoL), it can be hard to keep track of OCADOTY nominations. So while it seems a little odd, I'd like to start this thread to collect all of the nominations for the future OCADOTY 2021 in advance, sort of...

Re: Conlang ideas

Can you break down "setahuku"? It's derived from se-tahu-ku I'm not really sure how to explain the "se-" prefix here, but a clunky equivalent is "as [x]", like sebanyak = as much as, where "banyak" means "a lot". The -ku indicates a 1st person singular. "seingatku" also means "as I remember", or to...

I think more palatal sounds is definitely a good idea. I also really like the sound transformations and in-between sounds (that's what I'm going to call it). It is very common in Turkish, but it's not just because of that that I want it. Maybe we could have certain variations of suffixes to prevent...

I had a very cool (in my opinion at least) dream last night. It was set in somewhere , I dont know, but the place was pretty nice. Developed tropical island with some somewhat futuristic tech, although I remember it as "present day" (dont question me on this, dreams are weird). There is an indoor zo...

I also propose base 6 and base 12, which are also suited for counting on your hands (assuming you have 5 fingers on each hand). I sorta wanna avoid base 10 in fear of the language being too English-y (We already have SVO word order (ok i guess the phonology is a bit different but I dont wanna make i...

I'm going to add an r into the table but I can't figure out which one is used in English. I think it this:/ɹ̠/. I thought we already had /ʃ/. The one english uses, /ɹ/, is actually quite rare across the world's languages. The most common is /r/ according to Phoible. If we do agree on /ʃ/, I propose...

Now, I don't know if this conlang is supposed to look "natural", as in, look like it could be a real language, but if it does, the ph...
