Anyone here also on iNaturalist?
Is it one of those many applications where you log the birds that you've spotted in your community?
Sorta, but not just birds. Any living thing pretty much. I've spotted a bunch of jumping spiders.

Re: How to get the codes for patterns?

Yep, like Hunting said, if you have Golly, you can select a pattern and then Ctrl+C it and it'll put the "code" (RLE) in your clipboard, ready to paste. On lifeviewer, click the "Sync" button first to turn enable copying to the external clipboard. After that, just Ctrl+C as usual and the RLE will be...

Re: Thread For Your Unrecognised CA

EDIT: This rule looks promising, as in this soup, a still life forms outside the bounding box. Was this what you meant by escaping the bounding box? <B2n3cir4y5ir/S234q5kn6 soup> Yes, patterns in that rule can escape their bounding box, because the rule has B3i. However, patterns are still not able...

Re: Thread For Your Unrecognised CA

I tried adding B2a to the rule, and now most of the time it just explodes. B1e was similar. Is there any way to make a non-explosive rule which is similar to this? Yes, B2a and B1e usually result in an explosive mess. That second question is pretty vague. Movostill? Zakai? Are they similar enough?

Re: Thread For Your Unrecognised CA

This is a interesting rule (B2n3c/S234q5). It settles down into lots and lots of still lifes quickly, and only seems to have one oscillator; its version of the barberpole. I made the rule while using random Hensel notation. Is it possible to make a spaceship in this rule? Unfortunately no. Patterns...

Re: Thread for basic non-CGOL questions

Well, for a start, there are a finite amount of possible INT rules, and there are probably some rules that can be proven impossible to be omniperiodic, such as B/S, B/S012345678, all rules with B1c (since no stable object can exist within them), and probably some more.
