Re: B35/S23
Recently I saw a 5316M in Grounded Life, what is it? Also can you provide me a list of the longest-lived diehards and methetsulae? There was a soup listed as having a lifespan of 5250 on the old soup search site , clicking the 'RLE' link for it leads to nowhere but the URL itself has the soup's RLE...

I did not misunderstood anything. He wants to make games in cellular automata. Not a golden idea, since CA are science and ONLY science for me. Possibly a really stupid question, but... I've run a bunch of soups in b3s23 with symmetry D4+_4 and the hauls are disappearing from the 'uncommitted hauls' list but aren't appearing in the committed hauls list. Anyone know what's happening to 'em? EDIT: doesn't matter, I've figured it out, I think....

In case anyone is interested, I did manage to find a way to show show the 'Rare oscillator/ship detected:' lines in the apgluxe output for other rules, it was just a case of manually altering the code in searcher.h and recompiling. It is a 'per rule' kinda deal though, easy enough to do for somethin...

Re: Polyominoes
This one was just done with sets I'd made myself - I had cut the heptominoes way back in high school, so I had to ensure that the other sets I made more recently were size compatible. I've got some polyhexes and octiamonds from Kadon though.

I built another rectangle I haven't seen anywhere before, again using one of each of the heptominoes: a 20x38 with 4 holes (placed symmetrically). 20x38.png This ended up taking an entire evening of playing around with my little homemade heptomino set. Polyominoes
Anyone else on here have an interest in polyominoes or other polyforms (outside of a cellular-automata context, I suppose)? Re: Things You've Been Doing Other Than CGoL
Right now I'm trying to wrap my head around composing in the 5/4 time signature. I've written a song in the 7/4 time signature. 'song'. It was a birthday gift for my friendo a little while ago. Sort of related, I made this song a few years ago that starts off in an odd time signature, I'm not sure ...
