Re: Rule request thread
Have you already seen that thing I linked? No, I haven't seen this one yet. Thanks for sharing. It looks like it could be interesting, and I am now looking forward to trying it out. BUT I have played with a lot of evolution sims--that's how I got here a few years ago in looking for new ones--and th...

Re: Rule request thread
Still would like to see a rule to try to mimic biochemistry. I wonder how much complexity could arise with a rule like this. These molecules should "snap together" like those organic chemistry models used in education sets. But if they are then able to organize random configurations of the composing...

I found it. Thank you.

Thank you, but is this the javascript code you are using in your web app? I am looking for the code I can use in Golly as a .rule file.

Re: GOLAD (Game of Life and Death)?
Interesting. Does the Java version allow for networked mulitplayer games? I would expect not consider how integrated into the iOS ecosystem those methods he used for multiplayer were. I wonder if it will ever get there. We could all have a lot of fun with a platform agnostic version of this game tha...

GOLAD (Game of Life and Death)?
Anyone here seen Cary Huang's Game of Life and Death yet? https://youtu.be/JkGZ2Hl1l8c I find this concept really interesting. Seems like the perfect pastime for us. Unfortunately it's not on Android or desktop yet (iOS only right now) so I haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet. I am excited f...

If anyone is interested in the deeper discussion over practical details subsequent to fluffykitty and I agreeing on this concept which he used to create the first working demo, let me know and I will post the rest of the conversation.

Re: Complexity in loop rules?
I thought for a while about this some months ago, and was able to come up with some potentially interesting ideas toward the goal you mention. I shared these ideas with fluffykitty as he was beginning to play with creating rulesets at the time. We didn't get very far down that road, but even as far ...

Re: Shapeloop progress; looking for simple machines, organelles
Here is an attempt to make the loop with gene pattern 6432 and perimeter 24 from as few cells as possible. Here is an interesting 2 state loop I found where a quite small loop (perimeter 16) forms a larger loop (perimeter 68). I believe the larger loop is actually "4D" if I understand this terminol...

Re: Shapeloop progress; looking for simple machines, organelles
in random soups it either outnumbers or has the same population as any other loop (on average). You're generating random soups?! No wonder you have been getting such interesting results. I've been wanting to generate random assortments of "genes" for a while now. I thought I would have to create a ...

I find the idea very interesting If you find this interesting, you should check out the early stages of the rule creation attempt we've just started to simulate life's fundamentals in a different way: http://www.conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1639 I have to be honest though, after havin...

Re: Shapeloop progress; looking for simple machines, organelles
Here is a simpler loop. It has the least number of codons that are not part of the state 1 wick. Interesting! It's too bad that it doesn't form complex interactions with itself. It has a lot of room to take on information. The pattern it makes is also very dense. Let's see if it is a very competiti...

New rule mimicing precursors to biological life

It is primarily the product of ruleset creation work by forum member fluffykitty . I have just contributed some core ideas and ...

Messages stick in outbox
Often times when I send a PM it gets stuck in the outbox for hours and hours. Is this reflecting an actual delay in sending the message? And is this typical? If so, is it by design or what? Is there anything to be done about it? It would be nice to be able to reply promptly to messages I receive esp...

Re: Pattern viewer for forum threads
For multistate rules like the Shapeloop variants you've been working with recently, you can display images of the patterns you're posting, but you can't animate them. Haha, yeah I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping I'd get the chance to push things even further with functioning Shapeloop variatio...

Just wanted to pipe in and say this is incredibly cool! Thank you all for your work on it! I can't wait to go play with it. 153 evolved Shapeloop loops many possibly original @new site
I put together and am dumping 153 of my found Shapeloop loops. They vary widely in life cycle, form, size, and behavior. Many may be original finds, others may not be. But I have watched these all evolve naturally from 3 or 4 simple loops that some of you provided. It has all taken place through gen...

Oh and a small personal opinion. I think it would be nice if one could sign up with conwaylife account + real name. I'd love to have it open to all ConwayLife.com Members... I don't know how exactly it would work technically off the top of my head and I don't know who to inquire with on that, but m...

Apologies, c0b0p0 certainly they were oversights and not deliberate misattributions. I'll get these fixed. But you should think about creating an account and contributing. I think that's the surest way to avoid such occurrences in the future.
