Weird maths problem

A friend forwarded me this problem that initially does not seem overly complicated to tackle but I have had a hard time with it and still no solution: Sequence A(n) is defined as follows: with t=1, the following is done sequentially from i=1 to i=n: if t is divisible by i: t+=i else: t+=n after the ...

Re: CGoL / CA conference

This morning, I didn't have much time to expand on my brief post. Apologies. I could probably help to organise something but, perhaps, having a team of three would be most useful. I assume many of you are researchers or probably well-acquainted with academia. Most CGoL and CA stuff that is done is r...

CGoL / CA conference

Firstly, I am aware I have been rather absent from the CGoL forums lately.
I was wondering, perhaps we could organise some kind of online conference (with any of a number of programs) to discuss recent developments in CGoL. Also future work and possible collaborations.

Re: FreeElectronicsX, a 5-state rule

I can't seem to figure out how to produce a block pushing move. Has anyone? For single blocks, with one more state A (the "push ether"), upon "pushing" you can get a block surrounded by 5 cells in state A (5i neighbourhood). Then, 5i block dies and the cell with the following neighbourhood becomes ...

As several of you might know, I live in Spain. The current lockdown is a pain but I am extremely glad our government has been brave enough to take such rational measures. Re: Rule X3VI (B2c3aei4ajnr5acn/S2-ci3-ck4in5jkq6c7c)

As soon as I get (enough) free time on my hands I would like to start developing conduits in rule X3VI, but it's not easy as most useful programs for this matter are developed exclusively for CGoL. I think there needs to be development in this line, which -as can be seen from the first page of the t...

Let's waste no more time arguing and concentrate on topic, Hubi1857 :( It seems like there was no topic to start with anyway... just an extremely weird pseudoscientific ramble. Re: Unproven conjectures

A philosophical question...

If a still life only has itself as a predecessor, clearly it is its only father, its only grandfather, its only great-grandfather and so on. Does that mean that it would be a Garden of Eden, by induction?

Re: Geneascopy

Please recall that the dPop was highly predictable up to circa generation 120-160 , after which it entered into the chaotic heat convergence. The reasons for this had long been obscure, but after modelling 12000 generations of 29% fill 7x7 soups with a huge number of scans (N = 696337) in order to o...

Re: Is anyone studying the active part of soups?

Bump. Now I am. To some extent. I am trying to draw some general parallels between evolution dynamics and partitioning of activity in soups, but it looks quite complicated. Currently analysing some large 3% density soups to understand what the initial steps in growth would be in an aperiodic, arbitr...

I have run 120000 scans through 8000 generations in CGoL and I can confirm that, for a larger number of scans, the fine structure becomes identifiable for more generations (even down to generation 5000). I am not aware of any recent research in that line. It would surely be interesting especially if applied to an arbitrarily low starting density.

I will get back to it tomorrow.
However, I think the focus should now be circuitry design. There are loads of oscillators (like that p29) that look like hassled "things", for "things" that look conduit-friendly.

I do not want a new thread for each and every new "interesting" isotropic rule. They are often randomly stumbled upon, apgsearched for a while and then forgotten. I second this. Only rules with proof for guns, evidence for potential in engineering, unique enough behaviour and so on (so like Movosti...
