Number of cells

At least two of its states have 12 cells, and I think the standard we're using is to list the lowest number possibly for oscillators. Of course that would make the picture confusing, but I think that's okay, possibly with a note somewhere that the lowest number of cells is listed. Elithrion 23:15, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Good call. We can include the current image in an "image gallery" section on the page and make a note that it's where the name comes from. The main image should be one of the phases with 12 cells though. Nathaniel 23:19, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Okay, done. It's also now become evident that this is the smallest period 8 oscillator... that we have listed. No idea if it's actually the smallest or not (although that seems likely). Also, I assume the java version is now going to be out of synch with the image, although that's sort of okay. Elithrion 23:56, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
I'll upload the updated pattern files tonight. I'll also look into the smallest p8 oscillator thing and try to confirm. Nathaniel 00:00, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Well that was easy to confirm. You're right, it is the only period 8 oscillator with 12 or fewer cells. I'll add this info and a reference now. Nathaniel 00:04, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
