Grouping patterns

I'll do the images in a second, but in the meanwhile, I think this might be getting a bit excessive. Up/down and cis/trans are all so similar it's ridiculous. Grouping them a bit might be a good idea (thought I'm not going to take the initiative on that front). Elithrion 01:55, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I'm not entirely sure what to do about that, but I've had the same thought as you. For still lifes I included them all because (for example) there are exactly 25 "essentially different" 10-cell still lifes (by essentially different I mean that they aren't the same by rotation or reflection), two of which are trans-barge with tail and cis-barge with tail. Since I wanted the corresponding category page to have them all, I added them both as separate pages. I'll think on it a bit though. Nathaniel 02:03, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Hrm, maybe we can do something like what I did on the queen bee shuttle page, listing the minor variants underneath. I don't see a reason that we'd ever want a full category listing of all 14-cell oscillators or something like that, so that seems reasonable to me. Thoughts? Nathaniel 02:16, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, that would work fine, I think. Just needs a bunch of redirects. Elithrion 02:33, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, and should probably rename the page itself to just "Beacon and long hook" then as well if we're going to include them all on the one page. I'll deal with that tomorrow (if you don't deal with it before then ;)) Nathaniel 02:42, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
