Century is a hexomino. It is a common methuselah that evolves into three blocks and a blinker after 103 generations. It produces a temporary toad at generation 59 which is destroyed at generation 79. It is a parent of the bookend.

Century hasslers

As the century is very common, there are many century hasslers, such as the p127 century hassler found by Luke Kiernan. As an early example, David Buckingham built a period-246 glider gun using a century as the engine in June 1996.

Century eaters

Century can be eaten by a configuration of three eater 1s surrounding a beehive, as shown below (century is upper-right in each case). A much smaller century eater was found by Ivan Fomichev in 2013.[1] Both of them play a prominent role in the bistable switch.

Century can also be eaten by a transparent block in two different ways[2], as shown below.

Century collisions with a block, where the century gets eaten.[2] Note that they are of lower clearance, so the larger century eaters generally tend to be more useful.
