Beehive with tail is a 10-bit still life. It is one of the catalysts used in the syringe, a glider-to-Herschel converter.

Commonness

Main article: List of common still lifes

Beehive with tail is the thirty-eighth most common still life in Achim Flammenkamp's census, being less common than beehive on dock but more common than scorpion.[1]

It is the 39th most common still life on Adam P. Goucher's Catagolue, being less common than scorpion but more common than twin hat. It is the 4th most common still life with 10 cells, being less common than block on table but more common than loop.[2]

Glider synthesis

All strict still lifes with a population of 21 or fewer cells, all oscillators with 16 or fewer cells, and all spaceships with 31 or fewer cells are known to be glider-constructible. A glider synthesis of this object can be found in the infobox to the right.
