Reducible Oscillators

Post by BlinkerSpawn » November 23rd, 2016, 9:52 am

In the event that certain oscillators have smaller usable forms on the wiki than the official ones they can go here.
I'll start by noting that Blocked p4-3 and Blocked p4 t-nose have smaller forms than those presented:

Code: Select all

x = 53, y = 11, rule = B3/S23
39b3o2$38bo3bo$4bo3bobobo3bo15bo3bo7bo3bo$3bobo9bobo13bobo13bobo$3bobo
9bobo13bobo13bobo$2obobob7obobob2o7b2obobob11obobob2o$2obo13bob2o7b2ob
o17bob2o$3bo13bo13bo17bo$3bobo9bobo13bobo4b2ob2o4bobo$4b2o3b3o3b2o15b
2o4b2ob2o4b2o!
Blocked p4-3 sees a 1-cell reduction, Blocked p4 t-nose sees a 3-cell reduction and a bounding box reduced to 25x12.

The RLE for Blocked p4-1 is the old form:

Code: Select all

#N Blocked p4-1
#O Adam P. Goucher
#C A period 4 oscillator.
#C www.conwaylife.com/wiki/Blocked_p4-1
x = 23, y = 14, rule = b3/s23

Jason's p36 can be reduced in cell count, but increases in bounding box:

Code: Select all

x = 39, y = 22, rule = B3/S23

Also, while this technically may not be considered a reduction, 29P9's bounding box of 10x10 can be changed to 9x11 in two different ways:

Code: Select all

x = 27, y = 20, rule = B3/S23

10*10=100
9*11=99
In terms of bounding box, I'd think that the 9*11 is a slight reduction.

Code: Select all

x = 81, y = 96, rule = LifeHistory

Well, then here's two 12x8 variants:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 19, rule = B3/S23

11x8, higher population:

Code: Select all

x = 24, y = 8, rule = B3/S23
2o5b2o4b2o5bo$o2b2obobo4bo2b2obobo$b2obobo7b2obobo2bo$7bo12bobo$5b3o

I think this should be in the pattern section. I can see why it would be put in the website section, but it's more about the patterns...

Edit: 258P3 on Achim's p11's rle says "158P3" also it can be replaced with the 246P3.
