I have a fuse that produces loaves. It burns the loaves up though.
You can just barely start to see a pattern emerge in the loaf burning here (contains the original fuse):

Code: Select all

2o$obo$3bo$4bo$5bo$6bo$7bo$8bo$9bo$10bo$
11bo$12bo$13bo$14bo$15bo$16bo$17bo$18bo$19bo$20bo$
21bo$22bo$23bo$24bo$25bo$26bo$27bo$28bo$29bo$30bo$
31bo$32bo$33bo$34bo$35bo$36bo$37bo$38bo$39bo$40bo$
41bo$42bo$43bo$44bo$45bo$46bo$47bo$48bo$49bo$50bo$
51bo$52bo$53bo$54bo$55bo$56bo$57bo$58bo$59bo$60bo$
61bo$62bo$63bo$64bo$65bo$66bo$67bo$68bo$69bo$70bo$
71bo$72bo$73bo$74bo$75bo$76bo$77bo$78bo$79bo$80bo$
81bo$82bo$83bo$84bo$85bo$86bo$87bo$88bo$89bo$90bo$
91bo$92bo$93bo$94bo$95bo$96bo$97bo$98bo$99bo$99b3o$99b3o$100b2o$
EDIT: Closely spaced loaves. Also, the part I consider interesting is that pattern emerging from the loaf burning, since it is much cleaner than one might expect at first.

Code: Select all

x = 81, y = 96, rule = LifeHistory

This fuse is the Baker (http://conwaylife.com/wiki/Baker). It is listed on the LifeWiki page on fuses (http://conwaylife.com/wiki/Fuse). It was listed in Lifeline #3 (http://conwaylife.com/wiki/Lifeline_Volume_3) so it was found before Sept. 1971.

It would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with the wiki to see what has already been discovered, and to avoid re-inventing the wheel. It would also be useful to read the 11 issues of Lineline, which was probably the first attempt to create an interactive world-wide Life community. It shows what the state of Life was 45 years ago.

This ark-like pattern stabilises into 2 BLSEs:

Code: Select all

x = 22, y = 22, rule = B3/S23

So I found this ship in one of the pattern files that comes with the app version of Golly. Searched on the RLE search database page thing and on the wiki to no avail. What is this ship called, and does it deserve a wiki page (to fill in the gap of there being no page for period 8 ships)?

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 11, rule = B3/S23

Found with the help of Hersrch. The initial reaction was found accidentally while looking for a MWSS seed.

Have you found/tried any other reactons? For that matter, have you tried any other beehive factories?
LifeWiki: Like Wikipedia but with more spaceships. [citation needed]

The only other partial reflector I have in my files is this:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 21, rule = B3/S23
o$3o$3bo$2b2o4$4bobo$4b2o$5bo$12b2o$5b2o5bobo$5b2o7bo$14b2o6$6b2o$6b2o
!
Which I found a while ago, before I knew that it was part of the snark. Unfortunately, that can't help building a reflector as it doesn't have a signal output.

EDIT:Another solution:

Code: Select all

x = 111, y = 83, rule = LifeHistory

Pentadecathlon.com (which I can't access at the moment for some reason) calls this 31P8H4V0.1 (which is fairly easy to deduce anyway, as there aren't any other 31-bit period 8 spaceships).

I actually made a post on how to calculate the period.
In this case, the dimensions of the toroid are coprime to the displacements in their respective directions and to each other, so the period is simply 163*26*37 = 156806.
LifeWiki: Like Wikipedia but with more spaceships. [citation needed]

Glider essentially melts through the bottom of a loafer. You can see the top half carrying on as if the bottom was manually removed:
