Version beta 0.9.0 was uploaded today. The following changes since beta 0.8.2 have been made:

• Some minor graphical glitch fixes.
• The box at the bottom-right of the page used to sometimes only appear as a blue box with no controls on it. I believe that this is now fixed.
• The auto-loading via querystring links have been finicky at best in the past. Sometimes the pattern would load but other times it would just load an empty canvas. This is much improved right now, but still perhaps not perfect. Keep me updated on this one, especially if you notice any patterns with it (ie. particular actions that cause it not to work, or particular patterns that it works less often with)
• When auto-loading a pattern via querystring, the pattern information now automatically displays itself on the left sidebar. Also, if you try to access a pattern that doesn't exist via the querystring, the pattern info on the sidebar updates to tell you that the pattern doesn't exist. For example, see http://www.conwaylife.com?p=this_does_not_exist.
• There is now one additional querystring parameter available: hs. Specifying hs=1 in the querystring will cause the sidebar to be hidden by default. For example: http://www.conwaylife.com?p=glider&hs=1.
• The e querystring parameter to make a pattern not editable now works (set e=0).
• The timeout length for producing an animated GIF has been extended to allow for longer/more complex ones to be constructed.
• If you try to access a pattern file that doesn't exist (via LifeWiki, for example), you are now presented with a user-friendly error page and I am notified about it, rather than getting a bizarre non-readable error page like in the past.
• The RLE reading abilities of the applet are now much more durable and reliable. It now works properly with files from http://www.pentadecathlon.com, Mark Niemiec's site, and all other pattern collections and sites that I've tried (including ones that use the .lif extension instead of the .rle extension). Along these same lines, much larger files are now capable of being loaded (up to 500kB), and error messages are given if an overly large file is attempted to be loaded (unlike before where it just left you at the form without saying anything).
• Similarly, the Life 1.05 reading algorithm has been improved. Most notably, it can now properly read in Life 1.05 files for rules other than standard Conway rules (so, for example, Alan Hensel's lifepw pattern collection files now can be read in properly)
• Pressing the "clear" button now clears pattern information in the sidebar as well.
• Moved the "LifeWiki" link from the left sidebar to the header text.
• The linebreaks in the rest of the online RLE files have been fixed (so that you no longer get mysterious spaces in the middle of words in the descriptions of patterns).
• If you try to save an overly huge pattern via the applet to a file, you are now warned that it will take a while and you are given the option to cancel.
• There is now a "Load -> Popular Patterns" option where you can view a drop-down list of popular/interesting patterns that you can load. Feel free to suggest patterns to me, the list is quite short right now.
