Can admins change names?

Post by dani » January 15th, 2019, 9:02 pm

I was hoping I could get my name changed from 'danny' to 'dani' (for reasons I don't want to get into), is there any way to do this?

I created an account named dani as a kind of reserve, I was hoping an admin could switch the names.

I don't know, really... I think you'd have to delete your reserve 'dani' account first

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 9, rule = B3-jqr/S01c2-in3
3bo$4bo$o2bo$2o2$2o$o2bo$4bo$3bo!

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 5, rule = B3/S2-i3-y4i
4b3o$6bo$o3b3o$2o$bo!

If this *can* be done, could you perhaps go for a name that's separate from your real-life identity? That way you won't have to change it again if you start going by another name later on.

EDIT, to clarify: I'm specifically talking about separation of personal matters from one's forum persona. My own use of a pseudonym means nobody here would (without effort) know my name if I'd never purposely revealed it in some off-site locations, and it likewise means I can do anything I want with my real-life name without affecting my identity or interrupting my history of contributions on here.

The reason I'm changing it is kind of personal and only really requires this one instance, and I'll never change it again.

Don't exactly want to get into why but it could probably be guessed...

I know of one instance of an admin changing a username on a phpBB forum under similar circumstances, so it can probably be done on this site as well (though the fact that the copyright notices at the bottom of the page only go to 2007 suggests the forum's software may be out of date, and changing phpBB does seem rarer/more difficult than with e.g. MediaWiki-based sites).

Or we can all just remember to call you 'dani' every time.

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 9, rule = B3-jqr/S01c2-in3
3bo$4bo$o2bo$2o2$2o$o2bo$4bo$3bo!

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 5, rule = B3/S2-i3-y4i
4b3o$6bo$o3b3o$2o$bo!

Have any of the admins actually looked into this? None of them have responded in this thread. I'm fairly certain it should be possible, because this has been done multiple times on another phpBB forum I've visited.

Try sending Nathaniel a private message. I can't seem to find any way to do it as a moderator.
