Now this is almost slightly interesting:

x = 6, y = 13, rule = B3/S23

This thing (I don't know what to call it) can be made thicker or thinner at certain intervals, and more so if blocks are used:

I removed the stabilizing blocks at one end so burning would occur.
(Also, this is just an example; one could theoretically extend it infinitely.)
Furthermore, it can be made to burn in either of two directions, since the center part is a wick. Plus, it could be used to make a sort of two-dimensional wick (although such a thing is impossible in reality due to the definition of a wick including a requirement of one-dimensionality.)

That's HighLife. The second one works in normal Life, too, though.
x₁=ηx
V ⃰_η=c²√(Λη)
K=(Λu²)/2
Pₐ=1−1/(∫^∞_t₀(p(t)ˡ⁽ᵗ⁾)dt)

$$x_1=\eta x$$
$$V^*_\eta=c^2\sqrt{\Lambda\eta}$$
$$K=\frac{\Lambda u^2}2$$
$$P_a=1-\frac1{\int^\infty_{t_0}p(t)^{l(t)}dt}$$

Dangit, forgot to switch rules.

The one that does work in Life looks simple enough to possibly have been discovered already.

A loop with hook will work as well as the beehive with tail for the syringe:

Probably useless, unless it can be easier to construct...

How do people even make these conduits? Are they entirely handmade using known reactions, or is there an automated search program that generates them?

This one is basically just trivially assembling of three conduits together in a way that isn't obvious; it's essentially a four-stage reaction (H->Pi, Pi->R+H, R->G).

Well. I'm not that good at conduits (hence why I made a forum game revolving around them, so we could all learn a bit). The best I can really do is attach blocks and eater 1s and 2s around things like B-heptominos, so I don't know a lot of the tricks.

Back on topic, a loaf flipping reaction I don't think I've seen before

x = 8, y = 10, rule = B3/S23

gmc_nxtman wrote:Is this H->G2 in passing known?

Doesn't seem to be in the current H-to-Gn collection, which would be a reasonable place to find it if it were known.

Then again, I haven't been keeping that file up-to-date very well this year. There are quite a few H-to-Gn converters missing from it, including Kazyan's new in-passing Spartan H-to-G10 Fx77 variant.

There are H-to-G2+H emitters in the collection that are smaller and a few hundred ticks faster, though. So I'm not sure if I should add this new H-to-G2, or invent an arbitrary rule that excludes it -- "has to recover within 512 ticks", or some such.

@muzik, the individual pieces of compund conduits like this are generally found with search utilities -- ptbsearch, catalyst, CatForce, Bellman, etc. There's usually at least a piece or two that gets bolted on manually, by looking through the current scrap heap (the Elementary Conduits Collection) and finding something that fits.

In this case, gmc_nxtman said there were four stages, but only mentioned three. If you want to look the pieces up in the ECC, it's HL75P + PF291R, which is a variant of the PF35W converter that can be found in the Fx176 Herschel conduit... plus WFx46H (the only known W-to-H converter) and one of the most versatile R-to-G converters, RNW3T46G.

I am not sure whether this is new, but a "Minus-space interaction" between a glider and a snake (any stabilised pre-block triomino works instead of snake). Minus-space because a SPACEship* becomes a boat :) .
x = 12, y = 8, rule = B3/S23

* only now I realised it's a boat.

Either way, HWSS destroys a MWSS with the help of that easily created still life (the HWSS continues its way unaffected):
x = 37, y = 15, rule = B3/S23

This is called the "boat bit" reaction, and has been known for decades. The reason it's called a "boat bit" is that a second glider on the same lane removes the boat, so the boat acts as a signal flip-flop - i.e. a stream of gliders hitting the snake produces a boat with twice the period of input stream. It's also possible to place another glider on an adjacent lane that normally escapes, but is destroyed by the boat-destruction reaction, creating a divide-by-2 mechanism. This method has long been used to create glider streams whose periods are multiples of arbitrarily large powers of 2.

It also happens basically anywhere there's a pre-block:
