Ouch. That's a 21-bit P3 that I somehow missed. I don't have a synthesis for it yet, but it should be fairly easy, given the following predecessor. I'm sure there are ways of making the sparks from 3 gliders each, which would make this cost 12 gliders. I know I've seen them come up lots of times; I just don't have any listed in my collection that I can find.

I had already posted a synthesis of that oscillator on 04JUL 2015 (in the Synthesizing Oscillators thread), so you should already know about it:

The census you linked is actually "D4 +4", entered as a typo for D4_+4 and defaulted to C1 because this was before apgsearch was programmed to reject invalid symmetries.

I asked about this in one of my very first posts in the forum. I still don't know whether it was impossible to merge the census with C1 (probably possible with admin privileges) or it was just forgotten about.

If you look hard enough, you could find some other Catagolue oddities. For example, there is

I'm glad these dirty puffers only occur every few tens of trillions of objects, since they have to be handled manually. In other Catagolue news, the datastore has magically shrunk from 25 gigabytes to 15 gigabytes due to the automatic deletion of old hauls in non-b3s23 censuses. Also, I found two of these in quick succession, apparently: https://catagolue.appspot.com/object/xp30_3hu0oox8k2s3y6oozy7103/b3s23 In particular, 2016-04-25, 09:01 UTC: https://catagolue.appspot.com/haul/b3s23/C1/322547bd1ce35079bc688aac35ad1572 and 2016-04-28, 04:10 UTC: https://catagolue.appspot.com/haul/b3s23/C1/385f126d1e42969d2362bca8ec7ebe98 It's rather unusual that this appeared twice in four days, yet none of the other seven isomers have yet emerged. Cthulhu is asymmetric, has an odd population, and is markedly larger than the next-largest natural still-lifes (which have 42 cells). I would be interested to see what Dave Greene makes of this...
