## Soup search results

For discussion of specific patterns or specific families of patterns, both newly-discovered and well-known.

I actually figured it out myself; just remove the left six columns and the bottom six rows from the soup:
`x = 16, y = 16, rule = LifeHistory.D.3D4A2.A.2A\$D2.3D2.2A.A2.2A\$4D2.2A4.A\$2.3D2.2A4.2A\$D7.A2.5A\$3.2D.A3.4A.A\$2.D2.DA4.A2.A\$2D.2D.2A.A3.A\$3.D2.3A3.A2.A\$4.2D5A.3A\$2.2D5.D2.4D\$D2.D.D.2D.D2.D.D\$D2.2D2.D.3D.2D\$.2D2.3D4.D2.D\$2.2D.D2.D.D2.2D\$.2D.2D.D.D.2D2.D!`

### Re: Soup search results

Specifically, in lifelib/soup/hashsoup.h, I added these lines (the if clause):

`            return bw;        }        if (symmetry == "10x10")        {            for(int i=0; i<10; i++) digest[2*i+1] &= 192;            for(int i=20; i<32; i++) digest[i] = 0;        }        uint64_t a = 0;        uint64_t b = 0;`

EDIT: I honestly think it's a good idea to catagolue F/I above 100 (or 70, if that's too restrictive) for C1, not counting soups that spawn linear growth.

That is a great idea -- would people prefer F/I or F to be reported? They're roughly equivalent, because the initial population has a mean of 128 and standard deviation of 8 (and, by the Central Limit Theorem, is approximately Gaussian).

Merge requests on GitLab implementing that functionality would be most welcomely accepted. (What should the bin size be?)

### Re: Soup search results

In 10x10 the bin size is 1/1000th, but that's 1000x too much, so I say we round F/I.
For F, I say same as messless (100 bins.)
EDIT: On second thought, I think it's better to catagolue F. A good lower bound for F to submission is 3000 Although it's very, very common in 10x10, it's much rarer in C1 for unknown reasons.

Here's a haul with the "explode_" object: gol.hatsya.co.uk/haul/b3s23/C1/1d1102eb544fbe108edac216f16f5cbb

Soup:

`x = 16, y = 16, rule = B3/S233o3bo2b2o\$2obo4b5obo\$2o2bobobo3bobo\$bobo6bo3b2o\$obo5b3ob2obo\$ob2ob2o2bo5bo\$obo2b4o5b2o\$o5b2ob2o2bobo\$ob3obob4o2b2o\$ob2o2b4ob2o\$bo4bo2b4obo\$2b2ob2ob2ob3o\$2o2bobobob2obo\$2o3b2o2b5o\$bo2b2o4bob2obo\$3bo2bo3bobob2o!`

(please mark it blue I want to be first )

I'm submitting the PR, with a few other modifications, mainly the 10x10 symmetry.

You still have the chance to be the first real person to discover a megasized soup:

They're red because they contain the 'explode_' objects.

### Re: Soup search results

Megasized 5.1k soup:

`x = 16, y = 16, rule = B3/S23boobbbbobooooboo\$bobobooboobbobbo\$ooboboboooboobob\$oboobbbbbobboobb\$bobooobbbobbobbb\$obbobbobbbbobobo\$boboobbbooobbooo\$bbbboooboobbobbb\$ooooboobooooobbb\$ooooboooboobobbo\$obbobbobbooobbbo\$boobbobooboobobo\$obobboooobobbbbo\$bboobbbboooboboo\$obbbooobboooboob\$obbbooooboooobbo!`

Reduced: (pop 47)

`x = 17, y = 24, rule = B3/S237bo\$6bobo\$5bo\$5bobo\$3bo7b2o\$3b3o6bo\$4bo5\$6b3o\$5bo2bo6b2o\$5bo10bo\$6b3o\$2bo5bo\$2ob2o\$2o6bobo\$5bo2bo2bo\$10bo\$9bo\$3bo4bo\$3bo2b2o\$5bo!`

F/I = 109.4, still doesn't break my 10x10 record.

A nice seed which most likely doesn't save anything:
`x = 52, y = 31, rule = B3/S23bo\$2bo\$3o4\$27bo\$28bo\$26b3o2\$33bo\$32bobo\$32bobo\$33bo10\$34b2o\$33bo2bo\$34b2o2\$43bo\$42b3o4b2o\$41bo3bo2bo2bo\$41b2ob2o3b2o!`

I and wildmyron manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules.

Things to work on:
- Find a (7,1)c/8 ship in a Non-totalistic rule
- Finish a rule with ships with period >= f_e_0(n) (in progress)

The name of house on house siamese table-on-table weld hat-siamese-hat caught my eye. One of the C1 soups gave me a 9G synthesis of that, as well as 11G for the doubled version:
`x = 105, y = 71, rule = B3/S2337bo\$35b2o\$36b2o2\$93bo\$92bo\$92b3o\$86bo\$57bo28bobo\$58b2o26b2o\$57b2o13\$20bobo54bobo\$20b2o55b2o\$21bo56bo3\$101bo\$99b5o\$98bo5bo\$99b2ob2o\$100bobo\$100bobo\$42b2ob2o52b2ob2o\$42bo3bo52bo3bo\$43b3o54b3o2\$43b3o54b3o\$42bo3bo52bo3bo\$42b2ob2o52b2ob2o\$16bo26bobo27bo26bobo\$13bo2bobo24bobo24bo2bobo24bobo\$11bobo2b2o24b2ob2o21bobo2b2o24b2ob2o\$12b2o27bo5bo21b2o27bo5bo\$42b5o52b5o\$44bo56bo8\$29bo56bo\$28b2o55b2o\$3o25bobo26b3o25bobo\$2bo56bo\$bo56bo6\$2o55b2o\$b2o26b2o27b2o26b2o\$o28bobo25bo28bobo\$29bo56bo\$35b3o54b3o\$35bo56bo\$36bo56bo!`
