That might be difficult to do as shown; that octomino occurs fairly frequently, but every sequence I know to make it goes through this predecessor first, which the glider would hit too early:

True, but it can be something other than a glider:

x = 15, y = 16, rule = B3/S23

It's possible that a 3 or 4-glider collision could generate this mechanism directly, but I'm not sure.

This could already be done more cheaply, and more generally, by using a pi-heptomino:

Sorry, I should've checked that. I assumed all the >20-cell still lifes weren't in the database and forgot to check during that time. Anyway, it might be possible to fudge a 6 or 7-glider synthesis for 15.1051 out of this:

x = 11, y = 10, rule = B3/S23

The pattern shown contains a queen-bee predecessor, and I couldn't find any QB synthesis edgy enough to pair it with a 3G loaf inserter. It's also probably possible to mangle a honeyfarm to generate that object, but I haven't checked.

EDIT: Can anyone find a compatible 3G synthesis of the middle object? chris_c's python script doesn't find anything:

x = 16, y = 11, rule = B3/S23

By the way, I think there is a bug in that script somewhere anyway, because it doesn't find any 3G r-pentomino syntheses either.

I found a way to do it from 6 gliders, for a total of 11, which is slightly worse than the previous method, which took 10. If it could be made from 3 or 4, this would be better.
