My signature doesn't really contain the word BEEP. BrainBEEP is a programming language. Now do you get the joke?

The qua2dratic formula is
-b+V b -4ac
filler2a

Say Tufty was a swear word in some crazy fifth world language. Can I create a club called Tuftystuff and post it on a no swears forum in that language?

Re: Random posts
I have an actual "academic" question here about the 4th dimension:
Say there is a flat world of 2D squares on an infinite flat plane. Each square sees in 1D, meaning it can only see the sides/perimeter of it's friends. One day, a magical 3D cube approaches a 2D square. The cube asks the square if he wants to go to the 3rd Dimension. Being a smart square and a math teacher, he wants to go the the 3rd Dimension. The cube takes him up into the 3rd Dimension. The square is looking down in 3D and he sees his friends, he cannot see the perimeter/sides but he can see inside his friends, the area.
So, if we apply this to the 3rd Dimension and the cube encounters a hypercube, and the hypercube takes him into the 4th Dimension, will the cube not be able to see the surface of his friends but rather only see the insides? Think about it, not being able to see the outside of cube, just the inside...

Re: Random posts
Well, I guess what happens here depends on the quantum composition of the 3D space relative to the 2D space, and also the nature of the square's vision. The way I imagine it, the 3D space has the same composition as the 2D space, so the square can be transported to the 3rd dimension without ripping out part of his universe. Light can also travel across 3D space just as it can in the plane, but the square still has a linear field of vision, and if it looked at another square from above in 3D, it would only see a linear cross section of it, which would change when it moved back and forth in the 3rd dimension. By being dragged across 3D space, the square would see a changing "animation" of cross sections of its space. Thus, without seeing in 2D, a square looking down on its 2D home world would see cross sections that could be "stacked" to form a 2D image of the plane, and therefore could conceptualize 2D vision. I don't know where you got the idea that the square couldn't see the perimeter of things when looking down on them, unless the perimeter was thin enough to be invisible but still opaque when seen from the side.Saka wrote:Say there is a flat world of 2D squares on an infinite flat plane. Under the same model of higher-dimensional space, and vision (which I'm using because the idea of suddenly having higher-dimensional fields of vision when you transport to them doesn't make sense to me), a cube being dragged out of its realm (3D hyperplane) and into the 4th dimension would see 2D cross sections of its universe. Depending on how it was rotated, it could see square, rectangular, triangular, or even hexagonal cross sections of its friends back in its realm. If the cubes had a distinct layer of outer covering on their surface, the cross sections would also have this covering around their perimeter. As for a surface itself, well, it's a non-smooth 2D object and its cross sections are 1D. Looking at a cube's cross sections, its surface wouldn't seem to be a "thing" anymore, just an infinitesimally thin border between a cube and its surrounding space. However, unless the cube had a very shallow layer of material on its surface, so shallow its cross sections were too thin to see, the cube would be able to see what the surface of the other cubes looked like.Saka wrote:So, if we apply this to the 3rd Dimension and the cube encounters a hypercube, and the hypercube takes him into the 4th Dimension, will the cube not be able to see the surface of his friends but rather only see the insides? Re: Random posts
It's impossible for a string of 7s longer than 1 to be prime because it's always divisible by 7.muzik wrote:what would the corresponding lengths for 7s?drc wrote:1111111111111111111 (19 ones)Saka wrote:At what length does a string of 1s become prime again after 11?

Maybe we are living in a simulation:
A. When we forget, out simulators put our memory into the recycle bin to save up space
B. When we suddenly remember stuff, our simulators are clicking the restore file button in the recycle bin
C. Anonymous users are just the simulators interacting with their "game".
D. Deja vu is just loading a save file
E. People who do really interesting or important things live long because the simulators don't shut them down (to save space)

I'm pretty sure that rule was put in place to keep this environment feeling academic. With that in mind, I feel it's likely Nathaniel would make an exception to the profanity rule if it was used as part of the name of a programming language.muzik wrote:From the Rules:

And it gets worse, because as it turns out, you were specifically mentioned in the explanation for the addition of that rule, even though I can't find much swearing in your history. I guess that people had forgotten about, for example, the Life Movie or Tropylium's reaction to first seeing the loafer.muzik wrote:...as much as I STRONGLY HATE rules like these.
