The mathematics of the word not

Post by AforAmpere » January 13th, 2018, 3:08 pm

If a negative is just not, but a double negative is yes, then logically a triple negative is not again. However, what can this be extended to? Can we make a sesquinegative? Would that be maybe? Also, this will mark the second webpage with the word sesquinegative. Is there a certain operation to apply to these negatives that goes beyond just negative and positive words? Will the highways of the internet become more few? Is our children learning? Maybe we need to define a new form of mathematics, language algebra, to resolve what fractional negatives are, and to take it to other dimensions.
I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules. I also wrote EPE, a tool for searching in the INT rulespace.

Things to work on:
- Find (7,1)c/8 and 9c/10 ships in non-B0 INT.
- EPE improvements.

Shame

I'm sorry that I somehow did the unforgivable and thought that Vsauce was still relevant. As punishment, I'll never post here again.

Please help me filtering Glider streams between many rules from b3/s23 to b378/s23678! (Rule "Highlife" is omitted from the list)

I only know a p8 that converts a p(8*k+4) period to p(16*k+8), which is around.

Yes it does, if you characterize a period-N oscillator as having the property that it remains the same at generations which are multiples of N and no others.

Actually, adding "and no others" to the end of the characterization specifically disallows patterns that return to their original state in any generation other than 0. In other words, a pattern is a period-0 oscillator if and only if it never returns to its original state, i.e. is not an oscillator under the conventional definition.

I went to catagolue and web browser asked me if I wanted to translate from polish.

(Though apgcodes *do* have a lot of cz's and sz's so I can sorta see where the translator is coming from)
