Day and Night/C3

Post by Extrementhusiast » January 1st, 2011, 2:48 am

This rule is exactly the same as the Day and Night rule, except for the fact that it has three cellstates instead of two. So far, I have discovered three essentially different oscillators: the diamond (from the Greek cross), a signal revolving around a square (but there can even be two), and this little guy:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 5, rule = 34678/3678/3
2.A$.BAB$.A.2A$B3A$2.AB!
Blocks and strings of blocks are all still lifes, but any string with a length greater than one (essentially, everything except the block) cannot have an odd number of signals sent around it. Long ships and longer can also be strung with the blocks, but they obviously cannot have any signals sent around them.

EDIT: What I have so far:

Code: Select all

x = 39, y = 43, rule = 34678/3678/3
19.AB$3.A13.2A.2A$.5A11.2A.2A$.5A$7A$.5A$.5A$3.A2$16.2A$16.2A$14.6A$
14.6A$16.2A$16.2A2$6.2A$6.2A$8.2A$8.2A2$36.A$4.2A12.A7.2A7.BAB$4.2A
11.3A5.4A6.A.2A$18.A7.2A6.B3A$36.AB4$4.BA16.2A$4.2A6.BA7.4A$4.2A6.2A
7.4A$12.2A8.2A$12.AB$31.B.A.2A$30.A.5A$29.B.B4A$15.2A.2A10.6A$15.4A.A
8.6A$16.5A9.6A$16.4A9.4A.2A$15.6A8.2A$15.2A2.2A!
As it turns out, block-on-block combinations can support signals, as seen in the little collection. I've also found a few more new oscillators.
