I suggest we call it the Snail Butterfly.
Yeah, it's c/16, or more precisely 2c/32. If you're using Golly, you can use oscar.lua or oscar.py (in the "Scripts" folder) to find the exact period of an oscillator or spaceship.

I do the same too. The weird thing is that for CGoL we tend to say things like "c/12 diagonal" for corderships but in OCA we say things like "14c/126 orthogonal". At least be consistent guys

I think the 5s project, with its insistence on distinguishing spaceships with the same speed but different periods, likely contributed to that. :P

It almost certainly does. What I can say for certain is that, after 100k generations it continues to expand, having attained a population of over 12 million live cells in that time, and that this patterns runs rather slowly in Golly. :P

I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules. I also wrote EPE, a tool for searching in the INT rulespace.

Things to work on:
- Find (7,1)c/8 and 9c/10 ships in non-B0 INT.
- EPE improvements.

I don't think it's a wickstretcher, because it's the base that makes it grow by sending signals, not the head.

I think that would qualify as a class F (space-filling) replicator, under this classification scheme. It's definitely an unusual case, though.
