I've come to refer to this one as "rings 'n' slugs", due to the tendency of still lives to look like, well, rings or slugs: when I first looked at the xs40s from C1 soups, I was greeted by this. The name immediately suggested itself.
The rule doesn't have spaceships, but it has oscillators, and symmetric soups (e.g. D8_1) have turned up a variety of periods: 2-16, 18, 20-21, 24, 36 and 45, so far. EDIT: And 72 as well.
I personally think that D8 objects from this rule are also quite pretty.
