As I've said before, these won't mean anything until we can construct an X-to-S.

True, but it would be nice to have a head start if such thing is found. An S-to-T:

Code: Select all

x = 26, y = 32, rule = TLifeHistory

$14.5B$17.2C$17.C$18.3C$20.C!
Not too much clearance, though, insofar as that means anything yet.
Edit: A S-to-T5 (tandem):

I have negative results with gfind for width-11 3c/7 orthogonal (all symmetries) and width-11 c/5 diagonal (all symmetries), as well as width-12 asymmetric c/5 diagonal. I am currently running both width-12 searches over all symmetries.

By the way, @BlinkerSpawn, would you be willing to update the synthesis collection with my new discoveries, and @wildmyron, would you be willing to update the spaceship stamp collection with all of the new discoveries since October 27th of last year (I think each of us have some, and there are some others as well)?

Freshly updated, reorganized, and just as messy as ever.
How did you find these? Has Bob Shemyakin's glider-bombarding script been adapted to other rules?
(If it's not Python, can I have it?)

I actually wrote my own glider bombardment script for that. It's Python, sorry, but it's standalone, too -- not a Golly base. It's also very slow, very messy, probably still buggy, and has no interface (you have to make non-trivial changes to the source code), but I could fix it up and post it if you want.

P.S. Thank you to @BlinkerSpawn as well for updating the synthesis collection.

EDIT: I noticed two minor omission in the spaceship collection: the 2c/6 ships I posted here, and the two-disemiMWSS cleanup of the 4c/8 puffer. Apart from that, looks great!

Whoops, I even fixed the 2c/6 patterns in Golly but somehow they got left out. [Several of the rle patterns in that post aren't decoded correctly by Golly because of the way it deals with linebreaks - I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere but not sure if it's a bug in Golly or invalid rle.]

I've included the 4c/8 puffer/ship but was a bit reluctant to do so, as I'm sure the collection could become overwhelmed if every such ship was included. For example, here's a p32 c/2 ship based on Sokwe's back rake.

Code: Select all

wildmyron wrote:I've included the 4c/8 puffer/ship but was a bit reluctant to do so, as I'm sure the collection could become overwhelmed if every such ship was included.
My reasoning behind that is that since the 4c/8 puffer is a non-trivial stabilization of a front end with the same period, and it has no p2 or p4 parts at all, it seems as notable as the other 4c/8 ships, arguably more so. I also do feel that only one stabilization (at the minimum possible period, 8) should be included in the collection, so as not to become redundant. If you disagree, feel free to remove it.

EDIT: No results on the c/5 diagonal l120 (w12) search, at least for p5. I'm too impatient to run the l130 one yet. 3c/7 orthogonal l170 (w12) is still going.
