Re: (13,4)c/41 crawlers
Well, given the same input, a block cleaner can be accomplished much easier, and there are plenty of ways to do so: x = 258, y = 9, rule = B3/S23 2bo49bo47bo50bo49bo48bobo$obo47bobo48b2o49bo49bo48b2o$b2o48b2o47b2o48b 3o47b3o48bo2$7b2o$7b2o48b2o$57b2o47b2o148b2o$106b2o47b2o47b2o50b2o$ 155b2o47b2o! Re: (13,4)c/41 crawlers
Here's a relatively clean chain of reactions, though still useless. It probably can be continued or be an inspiration for your attempts: x = 295, y = 452, rule = B3/S23 o$b2o$2o21$15bo$16bo$14b3o22$28bobo$29b2o$29bo21$44bo$42bobo$43b2o21$ 57bo$58b2o$57b2o21$72bo$73bo$71b3o22$85bobo$86b2o$86bo21$101b...

There is a way to feed the reaction with a 2-glider collision. This example features another way to link the R-pentominos so you can rephase the reaction: x = 572, y = 93, rule = B3/S23 294bo$277b2o14b2o$276bobo14bobo$261bo16bo30b3o$261b2o46bo$260bobo47bo 15b2o$244b3o78b2o$246bo80bo14b2o$228b2o15bo2...

Unfortunately I couldn't find 3-spaceship helix yet. Re: (13,4)c/41 crawlers
It turns out that a helix for this speed exists at the period of the reaction itself, and it only uses 4 LWSS per period: Very nice! It seems to me like this helix could be reduced further to 3 spaceships per period. Here are the 4 basic interactions: x = 316, y = 42, rule = B3/S23 o99bo99bo99bo13$...

An amazing piece of art and engineering. Probably the most beautiful instantiation of the principle formulated by Eric Raymond that I've ever seen.
Smart data structures and dumb code works a lot better than the other way around.

I agree. Also the pufferfish may seem like something self-evident in 2018, but in 2014 it was a really huge excitement. It would be definitely higher in my leaderboard.

It results from depolymerization of this oscillator.

Depending on how the rule filter will work, it might dissallow rules like B/S45, which I am planning to use to search for SLs with only 4 or 5 neighbours. There are no sti...

Re: Spaceship Discussion Thread
One problem with the Pi wave stabilization problem is it's hard to stabilize it from the back . If there was a way to do that with a stream of spaceships then it could be possible to make a wave ship that synthesizes its own supports. You can stabilize Pi waves with sideways gliders, so theoretical...

I think, that one of, if not the most important thing we need at this stage is to try to find a way to rephase climbers. The simplest way would probably be to find a track that consists of simple (= likely to appear in debris) constellations of still lifes (such as two blocks, for instance). I don't...
